    How did you come up with the amount to sue for, in your case $5k?

    I don't know if he had other reasons, but in most jurisdictions, $5,000 is the maximum you are allowed to claim in small claims court.

    May I take you to your steps before the lawsuit..did you dispute, wait 30 days, then do this? Or did they not respond for some time? Just wondering what led to you grounds for this?
