Hello all, It's been ages since I've been here. I reached my credit goals--buying a house, have been here for more than two years now, after several months of disputing and negotiating. Would that we all have the discipline to never need this board again! Well I don't have that discipline. Here's the situation, somebody please help. Our HOA. Goodness I hate this and have been thinking about trying to dissolve it. Anyway, I gave birth the same day we closed on our house and became a stay-at-home mom. I had about a year's worth of living expenses saved before we moved in, and I do freelance work to meet the expenses of the babies (now two of them). I had all my credit cards paid off before we moved in. Of course at times, I would get paid late and then resort to using the cards. I have three in good standing and three in bad standing, and I am doing what I can. I just took on a part-time job, for example. It's not enough at this point though because the HOA debt has just been doubling in collections. We've had a payment arrangment that was recently kiboshed because our utility bills skyrocketed (a $700 heating bill for 1month). They've had it and have filed a suit. (incidentally, I do some freelance work in the court where the suit is filed. I'm this close to just snatching it I won't of course. We've tried getting a home equity loan (we have approx 45K equity), but my husband's score is too low. It's because of his student loans. They went into repayment and about two months later, he got forebearance. They refuse to wipe out the 60-days, saying that at the time it was true. Plus the listing is duplicated all over his credit report although it is all for the same debt. He's also paid his car late twice, which I cosigned on. And he's paid the mortgage late once. What should we do? We haven't been served yet, but I went into the system to find that the court date is July 31.
