Re: Re: Looking for budgeting help... You don't have to wait until the end of the year when you file your taxes to get EIC. You get it during the year. Not sure how to do it. At the end of the tax year it is deducted from what you would have gotten because you received it during the year.
Wow! Thank you all for the great advice! Luckymom you are AMAZING! I have a lot of respect for you, not just from your help here, but reading your other posts on the board. Yes, the car was a HUGE mistake. I was driving a paid-for 1985 Toyota Supra, and then a year ago it started falling apart. Instead of sucking it up and getting the repairs done I sold it and financed a car through Ugly Duckling. Man did I get screwed! I ended up with a 1996 Chevy Lumina at a hideous interest rate. I still owe $6000 on it, and it won't be paid off until 2005. If anyone has any advice on how I can get out of that I'll jump at it. Right now with my credit scores (under 500, yuck) there's no way to refi. I am paying for school tuition for my daughter, but get 50% financial aid (the most the school offers). I'm still paying $300 for tuition. After really examining my spending, I think I could really cut down on food costs. I've been buying lunch tickets for my daughter at $3 a day... that's $60 a month! She could have a lunchable and carrot sticks for $1.50 I'm trying to suck it up and convince myself to give up the DSL and find a cheap dial-up. Any suggestions? I do have to have an internet connection because I often do after-hours work from home. Oh, and I've got an interview for a part-time weekend job on Monday. I'd rather not put in another 15 hours a week, but the $350 or so I could bring in sounds like a fortune right now! Thanks again everyone!
