I worked with my company for nearly 5 years and it has been overall a good experience! I won many outstanding awards but I got terminated due to a simple misconduct, but I think they did it on purpose because of my extensive knowledge in this particular area and they're afraid of me. Although I don't have the means to prove it, but their erratic behavior and paranoia really shows off. Besides that point, I lost my job - terminated - and currently owe like 4k in debt which is trivial. Should I ask them for a settlement since I lost my job? I had to take all of my 401k savings to pay off my rent.. egh. And if I do pay the settlement, will that hurt my apartment search later on? Thanks. Omegaflare.
Sorry to hear of your losing your job, and for the way it seems to have happened. Is unemployment not available for you? I would suggest looking into that first especially considering you already wiped out your 401k savings just paying rent one month...what will you do next month? I realize from what you reported, your previous employer may fight the claim, but from what I understand, unemployment typically sides with the employee and having many outstanding awards will be good ammo for you to use. I've heard landlords can use something called safe rent? IDK anything about it though as to whether apartment complexes pull your credit reports, or if safe rent is something different. As far as the 4k you owe in debt, are we talking credit cards, installment loans? Installment loans (like auto), depending on your history and length, may allow you to skip a months payment without penalty (with exception of the added interest of not paying down that month), but more importantly it saves your credit. CC's you won't find as willing to cooperate, usually, but the monthly payment is usually much smaller too considering your total balance. BTW, I don't think anyone was ignoring you on purpose. I for one didn't see this thread till now.
