    Hi

Is there anywhere I can find anything regarding Lost/Stolen cards only be on a report for a max of two years? I've tried FCRA and Equifax's website I must be missing it.

    Thanks Des

I haven't seen that, but mine are showing as remaining on record for two years (since I reported it stolen).

I'm still trying to find out if it has any effect. It isn't rated on EQ.

So far all I found was EXP replied when I disputed for removal of a L/S card that EXP's process was 2 years on an non-degrog, 7 years on a card showing prior degrog history.

All my EXP stuff is at home so I can't look up the report that came on. I am starting a letter to a creditor to remove a card that shows L/S since 4/99 on EQ. Thought maybe someone could show me the light.

As for how IF it hurts, back in the day when a real live human pulled your credit and approved you for anything it wasn't looked upon as favorable. Believe it or not there are people out there who max out their cards and then report them stolen... "I didn't charge that.." One card closed as L/S that consumer is issued a new account and they go on charging all the while enjoying that big screen TV.

    Thanks

I reported our Mastercard stolen in September, 1999 when my wife got mugged in Florida. It still shows up on EQ as lost/stolen. There is another entry from the same creditor for a new card issued to replace the old one. It is obvious they replaced the old one with a new one if anyone looks at it. I don't think it affects the score at all.

I requested the replacement card w/new account number for security purpose but Chase is reporting as Lost/Stolen to all 3 CRA's. Also, it shows 2 tradelines from Chase. One is Lost/Stolen and other one is the new replacement card.

    per Experian web site

Listing all of your accounts is important to creditors â?? and to you. To make sound credit decisions, creditors need a complete and accurate report of your credit history, including how you paid on the accounts before they were closed â?? and whether the cards were lost or stolen.

Closed accounts remain on your credit report seven years from the date they were reported closed. A "lost" account remains on your report two years if there are no delinquencies in the payment history. If there are delinquencies, the account will remain on your credit report seven years from the date of the last delinquency.

Creditors may start questioning if all the cards really were stolen. Unfortunately, some dishonest consumers try to claim a card was stolen so they can walk away from the debt charged to the card.
If you frequently lose or have cards stolen, you probably should reconsider how you carry, use and store them. You should treat your cards just like money.

I can't find jack on TU or EQ web sites regarding reporting a lost/stolen.

I had a card lost in the mail...it was reported LOST/STOLEN...

I said change it to 100% correct information...LOST IN THE MAIL...they said we have NO coding for that...

So I disputed it every-other-month...it finally was removed after about 6 or 8 months...

IT WAS LOST IN THE MAIL...I NEVER HAD MY HANDS ON IT...THE CREDIT CARD COMPANY KNOWS EVERY TIME A CARD IS USED...AND WHERE...EVEN IF YOU USED AN ATM TO JUST CHECK YOUR BALANCE...

What this comes down to is it will almost always be on your report for 7 years.

If your card is stolen there will be delinquencies on it .The theif didn't steal it just to put it in the sock drawer like George does!
