A newsletter for the collections industry! http://www.watchtheweb.com/ be smart - copy and paste the link instead of clicking, so they don't come here to "visit." Of special interest: 1. click on "Buying and selling debt" in the left-hand menu, then scroll down and read "bankrupt portfolio sales" - yeah, they really do sell bk accounts to collection agencies. 2. click on "collection" in the menu, then scroll down to "FTC talks creditor compliance" - our friends Medine and LeFevre of FTC opinion letters fame answer questions regarding the creditor's liability for a collection agency's actions. Enjoy!
Breeze, Thanks for the second time. It was my hope that by notifying the original creditor about that stupid company that is reporting triplicated (my new word),not reporting in dispute, etc..that they had a responsibility and this confirms that! Whoohoo...you are an angel!
Hermit, I wish I was going to one of your beaches today. The heat and humidity here are getting into the killer zone. I will be floating around, staying wet, believe me.
Thanx Breeze, Great Job, I read the article you mention in #2 above. Just to let you guy's know it's an interview with Lefevre and Madine of the FTC. You remember them. They did a number of the FTC opinions letters and Madine is a BIG big shot. This article is a MUST HAVE for your library. The interviewees talk at some length about the Creditors legal responsibility for the actions of their Collection Agency. MUST READ!!!
