Accounts older than 6 months & in good standing will be considered by Bank of America's Retention Department for a lower APR -- if you call. The # for Retention is 1-800-776-6602. If you want to go by the book (you should!) call this number first 1-800-274-5060 (Account Managers), and proceed to Retention only if you get a "no". Lowest purchase rate they give (according the their web site) is 9.90% - if anyone has additional info about it, feel free to post. Saar
Saar, One of my favorite cards. The will upgrade to Platinum with just a call (must have 5000 cl or more). I did from Gold. Also, the usually give CL increase every six mos without hard inguiry-they do frequent - bimonthly- ARs on Transunion. Happy New Year H
Lowest purchase rate 9.9% ... but they will go Prime+0% for life of the balance on bal xfers (with no fee). Pretty cheap money! -mj
My BofA purchase rate is 18.9% or so but was told that my BT rate will be prime+0% for life. That's Great!!.
I called the normal customer service channel re: a rate reduction. The rep was able to reduce my rate from 10.9 to the 9.9%. It was painless. I had my account for about 7-8 months. I have had very good luck with BofA. Customer service has been very pleasant & helpful. The only thing I don't like is that the regular Platinum account does not offer a reward (points or cash back) program. It's strange, but the gold card does. Go figure. . . . I may write a planetfeedback letter to corporate about changing this. Platinum members should receive the same benefits.
Thank you for posting this info. I've just paid of a 8.9% BofA balance w/ a Chase prime plus 1.65.. the CL is 9300 held since Feb of 01.. so maybe soon I should give them a call and see what they will do on the prime plus 0% BT. I am waiting on a reply from At & T first though with a 0% mail offer until Sept 02.
Follow Up.. Instead of calling I wrote an email through my BoA web site this morning. It was a bit cheesy but sincere. I wrote that I wanted someone to review my account and see what kind of BT offer that could make me on a MBNA account that had a @ 9.9% regular rate and a balance of 12k. I did not name the account on the email I wrote. My current credit line for BofA is $9300.. and we just recently went up from $6800. The web site said a response would come with in 5 days. A prime plus 0% would be real good for us right now. Cherie
