2 1/2 years ago when I started credit repair, my first new CC was a capone secured with $49 for a $300 limit. The rate was at 19.8%. 1 year later I got a second CC from capone, unsecured with $300 limit and 14.9%. The secured card's limit has increased to $1200 over the last couple years and the other one is still $300. I called today to combine the two and they can't because one is secured and one isn't. But, she says she can unsecure the $1200 card because I've never been late or over limit and the account is over 2 years old. So, I get my $50 back. She still can't combine the cards because it takes 2-3 weeks to reclassify the card in their system (so they say)...but, she tells me I do qualify for lower rates on both cards, now. The $1200, 19.8% went down to 15.9% and the 14.9% $300 card went down to 12.9%. I'm happy and will wait to combine them another month or two. Feels nice to be saving a little money on interest.
