I called a couple of months ago to have my apr reduced. I had a Wards card with a 21.6% APR which was converted to a Walmart card with the same APR. If you at the current Walmart card app, the three posible interest rates are much lower than the 21.6% APR I had. With my history and credit history I figured, no problem. My other complaint was my $700 credit limit. Well, I called. The person I talked to stated that there is absolutly no way for any former Wards card holder to get a reduction in APR. The only way I would have a chance would be to close the card and reapply. But hey, I did get a CL increase to.....$1100!!! I only use the card at Sam's club as I don't carry a Discover card and pay it off every month. But, it was the principle of the whole thing. I've had the Wards card since 97 and had a lot of activity and perfect payment history just like all my other credit cards. $1100 @ 21.6% APR is an insult. Has anyone tried to get a APR reduction? Any success?
Try for LOWER interest rate YES...sucess~~~NO!!! Credit limit increases~~~YES...4 or 5... Limit increases are ONLY based only on PAYMENT HISTORY...so I was told... It's in the computer~~~they press CREDIT LIMIT INCREASE? YES/NO I have the "MIDDLE" APR on my WAL*MART credit card. I just paid the final $2,225 on my 0.00% promo CHRISTMAS rate...I SHOULD GET A "WHOPPER" of an increase!?!?!?!
