Does anyone know a good way to approach Providian with lowering my APR? I have a Gold card and have had it since 1998. I love my card but would like to have a lower APR. It is currently 23.99%. Please help me with any ideas. Thank you
I would try the "I really love this card, but the interest rate is too high approach". This usually works. Start out by saying that you love the card (name a couple of benefits), but explain that the interest rate is too high to carry a balance or to make additional purchases. As long as the account has been in good standing (no lates or overlimit fees) for six months you should have no problem getting a lower interest rate. Most of the CCC are offering 15-17% currently. I got my sister's dropped from 19.99% to 15.9% and my Mom's from 24% to 16.24%. Good luck and let us know how it goes. Dani
I tried to get apr lowered today on new card that's on it's way. They wouldn't budge.Said Gold card history didn't count for new card.I know though that I will get increases every 4 months and I just got a 2000 Aria a month ago so I'm surprised they offered me a third card.Providian has its plusses
They lowered my card to 19.9 after only a month. I called them up and tryed the "I love this card" approach. I got thje idea from this board. I also tried it with my only to cards First national bank of marin and Cross Country Bank....no dice.
You mean to tell us that CROOKS Country Bank won't budge? Now there's a surprise LOL. To get some idea about them, you can read this thread, from the fourth message and on: http://consumers.creditnet.com/straighttalk/board/showthread.php?postid=6799 Saar
