I discovered your site yesterday evening and have spent a few hours today perusing the messages.

I really wish I had found this a month ago before embarking upon my own DIY credit repair exercise for my wife. We didn't even know there was a problem until applying to our bank for a HE Loan and being informed that their rate would be 11.1%, upon inquiring why when I have a $520K mortgage paid promptly and no late payments or anything else, they mentions her credit score was in the 580's - low and behold this was right.

Back in '97 she divorced a deadbeat loser who in exchange for her equity in the matrimonial home ($150k) was to pay off a few credit debts, approx $20K - some deal that was. Whilst he managed to get her name off the house, he wasn't quite so quick off the mark to mail the checks, and if that wasn't bad enough he instead carried on using the joint accounts and let these go delinquent.....

We lived in Britain from for a few years and were blissfully ignorant of all this. Anyway, there were 8 derogatory items - 6 of these were off by just disputing these (Wells Fargo x 3, Sears, JC Penny and something else) Monogram Bank and HFC are a little more reluctant unfortunately.

Call Monogram, "yeep its purged from our system dispute it again and it will have gone" - Crap - same conversation and result again....I am beginning to wonder if an IQ of less than 50 if required to work at MCCBG.....

I am not sure where to go next and wonder if getting the score up from 580 to a range of 684 to 718 in four weeks should be considered a good result. Any ideas from the experts here would be greatly appreciated.

I have also been quite lucky in challenging hard inquiries. I found that EQ will just take these off within a week of being told that the search was not authorized, EX a little harder, and will only remove two at a time, so they got a few more letters, TU on the other hand won't remove anything, even though my main complaint is that a car dealer decided to send the application out to 7 different finance companies even though we completed just one application....any suggestion here?

Great site, and best of luck to everyone.
