I just got my WA Mutual Card.. it is ONLY $1k! What should I do? As long as I don't activate it, then it won't show up on my CR right? That means I won't ever use it.. is it worth opening even?

I have had two similar experiences this year with the GM card and the old Crap One bait and switch platinum. I closed both cards without ever activating, yet they both show on ALL three cra's.

I had a card that was $500.00~~~THAT'S 90% LOWER THAN MY LOWEST!!! I told them to take their "JOKE" card and STUFF IT!!!

Never activated it...It showed up on my reports.

You "MIGHT" be able to have it removed..."I NEVER ACCEPTED THE ACCOUNT BECAUSE THE CREDIT LIMIT WAS NOT ACCEPTABLE"

If you don't close the account, it will still show up on your credit report. Activation is a security feature. The account is open a few days after they approve your application. Try calling them and closing it now. Hopefully it isn't reporting yet and you can keep it off your CBR.

I can't get Citi to do anything about our APRs no matter what I do, but was able to get them to delete from my reports 3 of the 4 accounts that were opened in January. I disputed them on TU saying I did not activate those accounts and they deleted all 3 that I disputed. What's weird is that I didn't dispute them on Equifax and when they reported to Equifax, they just listed the actual account I did activate. No idea how Exp will be - had our Citi accounts since January and no mention of them on Experian yet.

... how bout this, does this card HURT me in any way? As long as my ratios are still good.. which they are, 99% not utilized.. that just means i have more aviable credit. and WA Mutual isn't a subprime CC.. so I should be okay just by leavingit open, right?

Opening a new credit card hurts you score in the short term in two ways:

    One: The inquiry.

Two: A new account drops the average age off all accounts. This is all the accounts on your credit report. Good, bad, open, and closed. You want to keep this number over 5 years.

I did the bdd in January. I combined my gold with my silver, then upgraded. They reported the gold to TU and Equifax even though I never activated it. I disputed the gold with both cra's. It was deleted from Equifax and TU just told me yesterday that Citi refuses to remove the gold. I seriously doubt that TU even bothered to verify it. I've got a few things that TU is pulling that is really starting to tick me off.
