LVNV Funding bought an old account(hat shows as being paid on my credit report) but the LVNV Funding account shows its in collections and the opening date was the date when they bought the old account from the original creditor. Is this legal? I've not heard from this LVNV funding in a couple of years, not after sending a validation letter. What do I need to do now to get them off my credit report? This account only shows up on 2 of the CRA's, so I have 1 score in the 700's and 2 in the 600's because of this one account. I've disputed this account with both CRA's and in a couple of hours their investigation is completed saying this account has be verified. HELP!

As long as they don't change the DOFD, they are allowed to report the opening date when they purchased the debt. All that means is the collection account was opened on that day. What's confusing is you say this account shows up on your credit reports as paid. Are you referring to the way the OC reports it here?

Yes it shows the original creditors account as paid, not the lvnv funding account, sorry about not making that clear. What does DOFD mean?

It doesn't have the DOFD on the credit report.

Are you looking at a complete credit report or an online report?
