ta daaaaaa! Mail call! Letter from Macy's showing a $0 balance!!! ZERO, zilch, nada...outta here! It's been a long road but I've finally paid off my Macy's account! A few more accounts to go but they have been the big thorn in my side with their outrageous interest rate (no, they wouldn't adjust me no matter how much I whinned ;-). But thanks to the likes of nana, breeze etc over the past 9 months, I now see light at the end of the tunnel! I have a copy of the cleared check printed out from my bank's web site, my final statement and now this letter confirming my account is paid off! In a month I'll get my scores to see how much they go up. But for now, it's time for a happy dance!
Totally off topic, but who do you bank with that allows you to see the actual cleared check online? I am looking for a new bank and I miss this feature that I had under Compubank
Actually, a couple of them do. Back when I had an account at SFNB (now called Centura http://www.centura.com) you could see the front of a check a few days after it cleared via the online/web banking service. My local bank, Commerce Bank (New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York and Delaware) http://www.yesbank.com/ or http://www.commerceonline.com/ will show the front and back of the check the same day the check posts to your account. It's pretty slick too because not only do you get to see the image, so does customer service when you call them. The CS reps can also see images of any checks you deposit INTO your account. This came in handy when we made a deposit and the teller made the mistake of placing a 4 day hold on the check (new account, check was over $8,000). We called the 888 number and the phone rep pulled up the image, removed the hold and posted the funds instantly.
