Macy's declined my card application and I PFB'ed them to reconsider my application.

I just got the letter from them saying the following:

    ******************************
Thank you for your recent email to pfb. ... On behalf of Macy's, please accept my apologies for any inconvinience you may have experienced when attempting to open a Macy's account. .... we regret disappointing you. ....

Upon review of you email, I immediately spoke with a member on management in our New Accounts Dept. ... The application was reviewd and the reason of decline was correct, based on the information obtained from the 3 CRA's. Specially, account within the last seven years reflecting a past due status and/or slow payments aided us in our decision in declining your application. Please ne adviced, you may contact the cra's to remove or update any incorrect information.

While it is regrettable we cannot offer you resolution you sought and that your expectations were not met, I hope you can appreciate our position regarding this matter. ... You are a valued customer ... bla ...

If I can be of further assistance, please feel free to contact me at the telephone number listed below.

    Sincerely,

    Denise Bradley

I guess, I am not going to get a Macy's card after all. Has anyone tried to contact them and tried to convince them for a card. Is anyone familiar with this name or talked to her before?

I thought I would ask the board, as I am thinking of calling Ms. Bradley tomorrow.

    Thanks.

That was my question too! Seems unlikely.

Macy's closed my account do to delinquency back around 2/99. I immediately ran down there w/ a balance transfer check from FUSA and paid off the account (~$320). In 10/2000 I contacted them to see what specificallly I had to do to get my account back open. They instructed me on exactly what I needed to do and I did just that and faxed info over to a rep in I think Arizona? or something. She was extremely helpful and just as she promised, she opened my account back up with a $200 limit (I asked for $100!). I can't remember her name or her contact info but how I originally got to her was by calling 800-659-6229. A rep transfered me to someone who transferred me to her.

    Saar, Mandy,

They actually pulled Experian only, but their letter says 3 CRA's, I am assuming that they have a standard format for their letter.

The bottomline is my inquiry is wasted and they are not willing to approve.

    :(

MP$40, that is really good to know. Congrats for re-opening your account.

However, since mine was an application, I am doubtful they will entertain re-considering their decision.

    Thanks for the post.

Call the person back at the bottom of the letter. Explain to her on how much you would benifit from having a card...you know....play the roll! Then ask what it is that you have to do to be able to get a card. Make an agreement. Tell her that if she allows 60? or 90? days to complete the tasks that she requires (and you'll send her proof) if they will allow you to have a card??? It's worth a shot?
