I've done the Google searches for "We'll clean your credit and raise it 200 points in months!" and they all sound too good to be true. But, besides fixing inaccuracies and paying your bills on time, are there any ways to get negative marks off your CR's?

I have maybe four things that a really damaging - two charge offs that were settled and 2 CA's saying I owe money for services that keep bouncing from agency to agency.

What's a guy to do when faced with the impossible?

There's no such thing as a quick fix to repairing your credit. After all you didn't ruin it overnight. Credit repair takes time and patience. Most of the quick repair places are scams and will end up costing you a lot.

Have to agree, it's one step at a time.

First, nothing is impossible, there are enough testimonials to that here on this forum.

The first thing you need to do is read all of the "stickies" posted on the basics of credit repair. There is no quick fix, and as the disclaimers say, this is all activity you can do yourself.

Credit repair is a process, follow the processes laid out in the "primer" sticky. You first have to educate yourself on the laws and processes of the FCRA and FDCPA, and FACTA. You have to also educate yourself on the processes of the Credit Reporting Agencies.

It appears you may have a good chance at repairing your credit report based on the information given. But again, you must follow the process, and that means doing the homework first.

You must also have patience, and be persistent. Be disciplined and organized, you will see results. So settle back, read all the information posted on this site, and then make your plan. Take them one step at a time, and you will see results.
