Hi all. Been lurking around for awhile getting lots of info and wanted to say thanks and let you know the good news. I received a letter today saying that the magistrate judge has approved my lawsuit against a CA and has also approved my IFP application (booya, cost me $3 worth of copies at Office Depot to file my case) I pretty much have my gameplan ready to go, but i still have a few questions about a couple things, so you guys may be hearing lots from me. I am finishing up all my discovery/interrogatories paperwork while I wait out the 20 days that I believe they have to answer to the complaint. (Anything else I should be doing?) btw, the case is for fdcpa violations. I feel extremely confident in my paperwork so far and documentation of their violations (pictures of cell phone calls, taped convos, and green cards from letters that i sent them) I'm just a little nervous now that the ball is officially rolling.
It is normal to be nervous, the thought of maybe having to take on legal counsel is intimidating. I recommend that you contact your state's Bar Association, and request referrals for attorney's that handle these cases. The service cost is minimal (say $25 or so), and the fee gives you a free initial consultation to review your case. A review may help you with assessing the strength of your case and preaparation.
