    If you made an order with them, it would be

    § 604. Permissible purposes of consumer reports [15 U.S.C. § 1681b]

    (a) In general. Subject to subsection (c), any consumer reporting agency may furnish a consumer report under the following circumstances and no other:

    (3) To a person which it has reason to believe

    if credit is involved (payment plan by the company)

    (A) intends to use the information in connection with a credit transaction involving the consumer on whom the information is to be furnished and involving the extension of credit to, or review or collection of an account of, the consumer; or

    or

    (F) otherwise has a legitimate business need for the information
    (i) in connection with a business transaction that is initiated by the consumer;

    what type of credit would be involved with a magazine suprsciption if you have to pay in advance?

    2nd question how do they pull an inquiry without a ss# by name and address only?

    1) It's an either/or; if there would be a payment plan (or pre-order, invoice, or installment) the first one applies; if not the second one would apply.

    2) The same way MBNA reported, and verified that Mrs. Johnson was the sole owner of the ex-Mr. Johnson's MBNA account, after the ex-Mr. Johnson declared BK.

    ok understand that point with the PP but how would a creditor pull your report w/o a ss# by contacting the CRA with your name and address only ?

    The same way MBNA reported, and verified that Mrs. Johnson was the sole owner of the ex-Mr. Johnson's MBNA account, after the ex-Mr. Johnson declared BK.

    All they need is the name & address to pull a credit file, SSN & DOB are technically 'optional'... Just like they may only need 2 out of 4 to answer a 'not mine' dispute, they may only need 2 out of 4 to pull a report.

    say a creditor pulls your report with only having your name and address info.

    now they can obtain your ss# dob and other info becuase they are able to view all this data contained in your report ?
