Hey gang do any of you guys use a mailing address or PO Box to dispute your accounts with either the CRA or the OC/CA? The reason I ask is that most of my disputes will involve older accounts that really are only affecting my credit report but I dont have the collectors after me calling etc.... So I was wondering if I could just use a mailing address or PO in case I stir up some stuff when I start to dispute the accounts. Thanks in advance

If you begin disputing you can count on some contacts from your mailing address being updated.

It can also be helpful to have old addresses deleted by the CRA before some disputes. It's just one less piece of info they have to match up.

We also found that with TU, I don't know about the other CRAs, if you have a disute open, you cannot have any personal info deleted or changed. You have to wait until the investigation is complete.

The good news is having old addresses or names deleted is usually as easy as calling and telling the CRA they have some incorrect addresses on file for you and listing the ones you want deleted.

I think using a mailing address is a much better idea this way you wont have to worry about all of these "old" debts and CA bothering you day and night and having to to tell tehm to leave you alone. As of now I have no CA calling or sending me letters since most of the accounts are so old. I want to keep it that way and if I cant stop them from coming out of the woodworks then I would like them to ONLY have my mailing address.

I also use a private mail box.

I like my privacy and even after I get all this stuff cleaned up I'm staying with it for the security aspect of not having someone know my residence address.

I seem to remember there was leigslation saying that you had to state PMB (private mail box) in front of the number so that people would know it was a mail drop. Something about protecting everybody from the scam/ripoff artists that use PMBs to do their nasty deeds.

I just put the number after the street address and haven't had any problems. Well, unless you count the CRAs trying to make it an APT! What idiots!

I see that you guys have success with the PMB but I was wondering if it works with a PO Box? They are much cheaper and if I can use a PO Box that would be great. So far nobody has said if they can or have used a PO Box to dispute there accounts.

    DemPooches,

What did you mean by "you can count on some contacts from your mailing address being updated"? Did you mean CA's that weren't coming after you, deciding that now is a good time?

    Javan,

So after "Wilshire Blvd", the #XXXX you list is the PMB number and the "XXX Wilshire Blvd" is the address of the PMB. Is that correct?

Address: PO Box...., Miami FL 33131.

    JohnOG,

Yes, that is exactly right. Probably the fact that you're trying to get your reports cleaned up gives them hope.

    Pooches,
As soon as I started the dispute process I started getting ntices from CAs I hadn't heard from in a long time.

In fact, I just had 2 CAs removed from TU. Yesterday I got an update from EX (5 deletes) and when I checked further EX had 2 NEW CAs - one of which was the one that TU had dropped!

    I HATE THESE B*******!
