BREAKING NEWS!!!! The application status line recording for the First USA Plat MC I applied for has mysteriously changed FROM: "your application is under review - we will notify you in 7 to 10 days - TO: "We received your application on May 31, 2002. you will be notified in writing within 30 days of our decision." i'm guessing that means denial - which is fine - cause I shoiuldn't have applied in the first place - BUT - I called First USA and spoke to a live csr and she SWEARS it's still pending and that if it was DECLINED they do tell you over the phone. Any ideas?
Had the exact same issue. FUSA's automated status system could not even find no trace of my application last week but yesterday I got "you will be notified in writing of our decision within 30 days" for the first time. I called a rep and asked if this meant a denial, they said no, it really is still pending, try tomorrow. Checked this morning and the auto system initially said still was pending. By mid morning it said that I had been approved. I called a rep and he confirmed that the card was in the mail. Keep trying!
I just think they have 2 recording lines...I think if you were DENIED...it would say "WERE SORRY..." That way you WON'T call back 30 times in the next 10 days...

swajames- actually a Fusa rep told me that they are not allowed to pull another experian - they probably went with the one they pulled when you first applied
Are you so sure you WANT a card from FUSA ?? These people are the BIGGEST scumbags there are. They have had numerous class-action suits brought against them for their dirty and illegal practices. There was a program done on them (PrimeTime or 60 Minutes.. one of those) that told the world about the problems people have with this bank and all FUSA did was have some dumb blonde on there repeating the same nonsense over and over, never answered any questions.. she was their token only. If you get this card WATCH OUT for them.. they're SO dirty. I wish I'd never gotten a card from these scumbags.. and this was 5-6 yers ago.. I'm STILL trying to get rid of them ! Had I known about them beforehand I'd NEVER had taken one. I actually cut up the card and sent them the pieces and a cancelleation demand after about only 6 months of having the card. Good luck.. you may need it.....
