I logged into my bank account last week and saw that there was a draft from Junum for $75, I knew I did not have any successful disputes so went to live chat to ask about it. Apparently, Junum has a new few schedule, I was charged $5 for each dispute SENT not for each deletion. I was not notified by email, phone, or mail about the new fees, the cs rep said I should have looked at the website and I could have found out that they were charging more. To sum it all up, I have now incurred $200 in overdraft fees and many bounced checks, all for under the amount of $7.00. I called my bank and they said that once you give someone access to your checking account like that they can pretty well do what they please. I am fighting the charge as an unathourized ACH, but I don't know how successful I will be. I looked all over the website again and did not see anywhere where they have posted the new fee schedule. My bank said I would have to close my account out to keep them from getting anymore money, I had them cancel our accounts with junum, don't know that will help. Any advice? Sam
Surely they have an obligation to let customers know directly when they implement such a major change to a contractual agreement. I had to hunt to find their new rate schedule. Here it is: A la Carte: - $39.95 setup fee - $19.95 per month - $5.00 for each dispute - $15.00 for each deleted item Flat Rate: - $49.95 setup fee - $49.95 per month - all disputes included - all deletions included It sounds like they automatically decided that existing customers should be A la Carte, rather than offering a choice between the two very different plans. Shoddy. On a related note, Junum (stock ticker "JUNM") is trading at $0.50 per share. Keep in mind that the NASDAQ will boot them right off of their exchange (i.e., "delist" them), forcing them to become a penny stock traded on some offbeat exchange, unless the stock trades back over $1 for a length of time (usually for at least a few weeks). It wouldn't surprise me at all if they get delisted at some point during the first or second quarter of 2002. Delisting, by the way, is the kiss of death for startups -- big investors tend to shy away from companies that get delisted and end up as a penny stock. Doc
I don't recall anything in the contract that I signed and sent back to them that said that they could change the fee structure at any time without notification. They certainly did not have my permission to draft my bank account for new fees without telling me. I am seriously pissed off about this, I only had $80 in my bank account since it was right after the holidays, if they had only waited a few more days until my paycheck was in this would have not been that big of a deal. I use Netbank so I have no idea what my chances are of recovering my money, if they find in my favor then I get the return of the service charges, if not I am out all of that, plus many bad checks, at $25 a pop those will be lovely to pick up, especially since they were all under $10. There has to be something I can do about this.
My bank let me put stop payment on checks once and if the checks are in order you only pay for one..I had like 8 checks stop payment and cost $10 better than bouncing Also i dont give out my checking # anymore..
I was told by bank that you cannot stop payment on an ACH withdrawl, I am not so sure about that, but that is what they said. I had to send in papers saying it was unauthourized. What a nice freaking Christmas present. I used to write checks all the time when I didn't have the money. This last year has been a real turning point for me, I straightened up my act and haven't had a single overdraft charge in a year. I am trying so hard with the credit repair and everything else and every time I make progress I get knocked back down by something. I am so tired of all of this and really cannot take it anymore. What has happened to me has been my fault for the most part, I have tried to fix things and make a better life for us. I am 38 years old and have no prospects left in life. I just want a break once in a while.
It depends on what bank you bank with. I was able to stop ACHs with my CU. And when I banked with Bof A, they were able to credit my account while investigating the issue. I'm glad I gave Junum the boot before all this started happening. Good Luck.
They don't even have live assistants via the 800 number anymore. I emailed them to cancel my junum account. Thank god I used amex to pay them. I just disputed a $60 dollar charge from junum, no idea what it was for.
i had the same problem and got on live chat with someone named uylisses and he reversed the 80 charge to my checking account and cancelled my account .. i was luck i caught it the day after they did it
I know, I demanded that they give me the 1-800 number on live chat and they refused, it used to be posted on the website. I believe I talked to Ulysses also, I told him repeatedly I was not paying that and that I was going to dispute it with my bank, he did not offer to credit it back to me. Now, he is the one that said that I should have looked at the website for the notice of new fees, but I looked all over that website and all there is is a new member sign up form with the fees posted, it does not say that all user accounts would be updated to the new few schedule. I guarantee that I am not going to take this, they will pay for all overdraft charges and if it is the last thing I ever get done in my life.
Their toll-free customer service number was (is?): 1-888-990-9999. I just uncovered that by going to Google.com (my favorite search engine) and searching under the keywords "Junum toll-free". Click the word "cached" under the listing, and you'll view Google's saved version of Junum's earlier page, which said: "Even though we do all the heavy lifting, there are still some steps you must take. But don't worry, we're here to help with educational seminars, financial programs and the credit card to help you begin rebuilding your credit. If you need help, just contact your friendly Junum.com Member Support representative at support@Junum.com or call toll free (888) 990-9999. And don't be alarmed if you hear cheering in the background. We've just helped turn another member's life around." Hope that's helpful. Doc
