I am really not sure how and what effect adding an AU has - any resources? Thanks.

You inherit the whole history if in fact they report to an AU. Some don't, they require the person to be a co-applicant.
Best thing to do is to call them and ask for yourself.
Be specific and tell them your intentions, they do it all the time.
"When you sleep with a credit card, your sleeping with every credit card that credit card has been with."
Hope that helps.
