Today I went to the mailbox to get my mail and noticed a letter from the department of transportation. I open it up and realize it is the title to my new car I just purchased 4 months ago! I thought this was supposed to go to the bank right?? I think someone made a boo-boo here!! LOL! I looked it over and yup it's the real deal with just my name and NO other mention of lien or bank info on it. I'm not calling the bank and if they call as far as I'm concerned I don't have it! Not that I plan on defaulting on the loan or anything but having it around is definetly in my favor. Tac
Not bad, tac!! LOL My new car was totalled a few years ago (not my fault). ) The bank would only pay what the junk yard would give them! Left me still owing about $3,600! The bank accidentally sent me the title, free and clear and a letter on their letterhead thanking me for doing business with them, etc. About a month later, I got a collection letter from the bank saying I owed the $3,600. I called and told them I had the title! They said they had made a mistake. OH WELL!!! They tried to rip me off by not giving me fair market value for the vehicle in the first place which would have left me owing nothing. They went ahead and reported it on my credit report as a negative, though. I went to purchase a new vehicle and just had to show them the title. Regardless, I know that I had to pay a higher interest rate. Hindsight is 20/20. I probably should have fought the negative tradeline. I HAD THE TITLE!! ) Sometimes things work out in your favor. )
