I recently got my secured account with Capital One unsecured as was given a $1000 CL increase (courtesy of Mr. Cooke). Feeling bold I applied for another card with Capital One. This morning I found out that the application is going to be another secured card offer (No!). My credit report is much better than it was at the time I applied (they pulled Experian by BTW). I also have had success on my pending disputes. They were due on December 12th but not updated in Experian's system when Cap One pulled the report on the 17th. (What gives!) I plan to use the updated CR as the basis for reconsideration.

I believe I saw a post where the both of you were talking about Cap One reconsiderations and whom to speak with. I am wondering if you would be so kind as to share that info with me. My e-mail is activated through CreditNet.

If anyone else out there has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate them.

    Hi Mel,

I believe that you are thinking of my and PsychDoc's references to Citibank wrt reconsideration, and not Capital One. I haven't asked for reconsideration for a Capital One card, though I have dealt extensively with the Consumer Advocate's office on other issues.

In your case, I would wait until your credit reports reflect the information that they should, and then write the Consumer Advocate's office (i.e. Mr. Cooke) explaining that you believe their recent credit decision to offer you a secured card was based on an erroneous credit report. Offer in the letter to fax an updated credit report to Mr. Cooke and request that he unsecure the new account and raise the limit by $1000.

I hope it works for you...

Thank you Marci. If possible, can you also provide me with the name of the individual at Citibank as well. I have my problems with them as well.
