I have a friend whom I am going to start helping repair her credit. She is married and had a nm change to her married name. Most of her CR info I can see so far is in her maiden or legal name from her previous marriage, not the current one. There is refereance to her current name on one CR. The addresses are all messed up with only one reporting her current. She has a few CO's and collections we are going to fight. I am considering using the name aspect 1st. Any suggestions on how I should approach this? I am thinking a simple letter to the CA's with the correct and current info, along with a copy of the SS card and a driver's liscense as proof may be all she needs to do 1st, then dispute in writing the TL's as "not mine". My only concern so far is that her SSN may reflect that her nam ewas changed legally due to marriage twice and may not be all we need to do to get deletions. Does any CRA have access to that type of information, or legal rights to get it? I am afraid that they may see a cross between all her names, past and present! Advise please?
There is a person on a few other boards... goes by variations of "curly". She had some trouble getting her new name reported -- took some time... but since it has been reported, she has great success -- amazing really. Look her up. I have some of the same issues. I just havent gotten around to trying to get the CRAs to report my current name.
