Does anyone have this card? May Company has their own bank, May National Bank of Arizona. Who do they pull? What are their standards?

Okay, you've waited long enough, I'll answer your question, :)

First of all, I hope I am speaking of the same May Company (Hechts, Lord & Taylor, Strawbridges).

They seem to favor TU (at least here in Virginia). They don't even access the other two. When I applied for Hechts and Lord & Taylor both inquiries showed on TU and their ARs show up on TU.

Their credit acceptance of applications seems pretty leinent. Hechts was the third company to ever approve me (first retail company). I had only 8 months of credit and two low limit CCs. So as long as the credit is current and in good standing it shouldn't be a problem. Two warnings though - they always access a low credit line for new accountholders (usually $300) and they don't report your CL to the credit bureaus.

    Hope this helps.

PS The above is in reference to their store cards, so their loan company could be quite different.

Don't know who they "PULL" but I did have ROBINSONS & MAY CO in CALIFORNIA...before the merged.

I think FOLEYS is part of that group...I have FOLEYS (was MAY D&F) in COLORADO...(haven't used it in years)...doesn't show on ANY CRA'S report...

The May Department Stores Company currently operates 436 department stores under the names of Lord & Taylor
    Hecht's
    Strawbridge's
    Foley's
    Robinsons-May
    Filene's
    Kaufmann's
    Famous-Barr
    L.S. Ayres
    The Jones Store
    and Meier & Frank
as well as 156 David's Bridal stores.

Note that since October 2000 they have cross-division shopping privileges. Meaning you can buy stuff from Strawbridge's with your Jones Store card. I do it all the time...the only problem is that not all sales weenies (and even some managers) know this so they may give you a hard way to go.

I found out one reason they kept telling me why I couldn't use my Foley's card at Strawbridge's...out here there is a well-known jewelry store called Foley and they didn't know that there was a MayCo division called Foley's!

One note, you can shop as in buy and return/exchange but you cannot may a payment at a sister division, you'll have to make it at your home division or mail it. That also means you can buy online from a sister division and have it shipped to you tax-free but still pay with your current card ;-)

    Question for Dani

Dani....are you saying the R-M doesn't report the credit limit or doesn't report the line altogether to CRA?

This is an important question. :)

    Re: Question for Dani

    Toothman,

They report the line to all three CRAs. They just don't report the credit limit. They are also very good with updating the accounts (every month).
