I used to read and post on this board regularly. I became very busy with other things and extremely frustrated with cleaning-up my credit! So I left it alone. Today I received some good news! Direct Merchants is unsecuring my account and refunding my security deposit! Not only that, this week I received an offer to apply for an unsecured Associates Visa. This is the first time I received an offer for an unsecured card! I now feel maybe I am progressing. About a year ago I had no positives. I had a repossesion and numerous charge-offs (a divorce plus irresponsibility was the source of all my problems). I obtained a car loan (high interest), and unsecured Orchard (original $300 limit was inceased to $500 last month) secured DMB, secured Providian (original $100 limit is now $800), Net 1st (don't laugh), and a computer a loan (high interest also). All these new accounts have been maintained with perfection. Only one of my negative accounts has been removed and it's gone because of the 7 year rule. Amex sent me a letter about 3 months ago stating that if I pay them the $2000 I owe they would issue me a card (not secured). I didn't follow up because the letter instructed me to pay a collection agency! This account is from the mid-80's so it's no longer on my report. Should I re-consider this? Thanks for listening!
Hey Killer! Nice to hear from you. I am also getting fed up with credit repair and am considering taking a break as well.... American Express is American Express....once you get your foot in the door....they treat you (most of the time) like a star. If I were in your shoes I would definately consider their offer. Call Am/Ex and speak to someone about it. Make sure they are legit. Besides (not to get on the moral tip) you do owe them the money anyway so....it's not like it's wasted money...well it might be to some but that's a whole other issue. Am/Ex would suit you well.....just find out the details before you do anything. And if it doesn't soud right...then forget it. What type of Am/Ex card are we talking?
LONG TIME , NO SEE KILLER. I wondered at times what happened to you. I know how you feel about trying to clean up your credit. Glad things are looking up for you > Time and patience is a virtue. Hope to see more of you around here. Take care and best regards to you guy.
