It's something to do with their marketing agreements and the co-branded cards. I called three or four times trying to convert my B&N card to the AAA. The consensus was that if it was a standard card without the B&N branding they would convert it no problem, but otherwise I was SOL and I would have to re-apply for the AAA. I finally did apply for the AAA card and burned the inquiry, couldn't find any way to beat that system.
AAA and AMTRAK are CO-BRANDED...but QUANTUM is NOT!!! "IF" QUANTUM is their "BEST" SO THEY THINK...WHY CAN'T I DOWNGRADE THEN????
My brother wanted to trade his Ebay Platinum Plus to Linux.org World Points MC. They refused to convert because they could not conver co-branded cards into another type. Back a couple of years, I can trade my Garfield and B&N into another type. I guess it is new rules. Ron.
just need to talk to a top dog. If you have had $0 on the card for at least one statement period they can do whatever they want to, if you talk your way up. THE CSR'S will not be able to do it, they will tell you NO, but higher up, they will do it. Trust me, went thru this a few months back with the BDD of the apple loan into my quantum. i got an increase like $400 i think to $13K on my quantum recently. whoopie.
