MBNA and Sports cards...Question

Does anyone have an MBNA card associated with a sport, like baseball, football, hockey, etc.

I noticed the APR is 12.99% which is higher than the worldpoints card and some other rewards cards like elite rewards.

I could not find any of the benefits with these cards to justify 12.99%. For example, discount season tickets, playoff tickets, team merchandise, etc.

If anyone has some information on this, I'd appreciate it.

Their MLB cards do come with the Worldpoints. I know it does not say that on the website but I got an email from them. You could call their CS and verify.

I think the gimmick is that they are the only ones offering the affinity type cards like this so they feel they can have a higher rate than a standard card. They have to pay licensing fees, so they probably work that into the equation. MBNA is one of the best marketing companies when it comes to these things. They do colleges, companies and all sorts of sports players and teams.

They sometimes give you a FREE towell or colelctible to sign you up at a stadium..>

    Thanks everyone for the responses.

I forgot that MBNA may have to pay some licensing fees to sports franchises since they have just about every team. A towel or jacket would be nice though.

I didn't get approved yet, but if I do, I will ask about the worldpoints program since those APR's are lower.

NanaC...I am sorry about that, I know how much you love the Avalanche!!, I must admit that having that team logo on a card would be so cool :)

I know...I know..I'm crying over here....but I'll live vicariously through you! I think maybe I'll have to be an AU on DH's (who did not have any accounts on our BK..long story there)..:) Big, heavy sigh..
Good luck! I hope you get a great limit!

I have a friend that sets up at sporting events and gets people to apply. The reason they can afford to give you a gift, and set up at all the premium sporting events, is they get 1% for the life of the card.

It can be pretty profitable with the right people using your cards. Like College students.

Is it only for MLB though?. I applied for the SF 49'ers plat. plus card. Would love to get the worldpoints card for that.

Does platinum plus credit line start at 10k?
