Anyone else get an offer in the mail for an MBNA Platinum Plus with 7.9% fixed APR on everything? 2.9 intro on cash till March 2004? I have the exact card and can't get through to customer service (impatient, but I did wait 20 minutes) to see if they will do this to my existing account.

    Anyone else try this yet?

I just got off the phone with MBNA and they applied the 7.9 rate to my existing card. This was my second time calling though. Also, they offered to extend my 0% BT to December.

    George,

How long has you had your MBNA card? I have noticed that they will apply the 7.9 rate to existing customers who have had their card for less than a year. But, as you always say - UYGF.

yah i have the quantum ($9800) can't even get $10K limit to qualify for quantum worldpoints.

oh wait, never mind they just converted my card to quantum worldpoints, but of course i dont have $10K limit.

so i guess that says something about how elite quantum is now.

    ;)

I had had the card 2 months when I recieved their offer. I called their retention dept. and got the 7.9(from 8.9) and they extended my 0% BT 6 more months to may 2004.

How do you do with the BT fee...Do they waive it if you insist ?

    I had to pay it.

It was worth it though. 0% for 12 months = saves money
