Re: Re: Re: Re: MBNA as bad as posts say? No problems with them ever. My credit line began at 5.5 K 18 months ago and now is at 18300. My card has goods rewards (Amtrak). Cust serv friendly. Great Bank like Chase, citi or BofA .
Re: Re: Re: Re: MBNA as bad as posts say? alright I am gonna apply right now question is should I apply opnline or should I call. I like online because it gives all of the student options which will make me look better, I think? If I apply online and am declined can I call back and ask for a manual review? Also, is their online application instant approval or does it take a while?
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: MBNA as bad as posts say? DEPENDS ON WHO YOU ARE... ME...30+ DAYS FOR DENIAL LETTER SUFFICIENT CREDIT AVAILABLE...BUT I HAVE LESS NOW THEN BEFORE THEY SENT ME THE OFFER!!!
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: MBNA as bad as posts say? do they have a number you can call and check or a web site to check on status of the application?
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: MBNA as bad as posts say? They always do a manual review of any application. I don't have a number to their credit dept., but someone at this number should be able to help you get there to check on application status. If you call soon after you apply, you may be able to get approved with an analyst while on the phone... 1-800-336-2974 ("R") can transfer you to credit. Or do a search on this board for "MBNA credit department".
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: MBNA as bad as posts say? You don´t need to call them. They will call you before approval to ask some questions about your reports and the oldest trade line. Also expect inquires on Exp and TU.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: MBNA as bad as posts say? they will call me? I have never had that before with any app...what if I am pretty much never home when they are open? should I just call and apply and let them do everything while I am on the phone?
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: MBNA as bad as posts say? They will call you at work. You're also welcome to call them to check the status. They won't deny you for it. And if they can't get in touch with you at work, your calling them will speed up their (notoriously slow) process. ______ BTW, today I came home for lunch and lo and behold MBNA calls me. Said, "We want to thank you for being a good customer; may we raise your credit line to $20K+?". After confirming there would be no hard inquiry for the increase, I agreed, logged on to my PC - snd there it was. I have only had the card 18 months. Started out at $10K. I have NEVER revolved a balance. They have not made ONE SOLITARY PENNY off of me since opening this account. There have been a couple of 5-6 month long lapses in card activity. And yet they raise my limit. I let them; it helps my ratios. But I don't use the card to carry a balance. I use a Citi or Chase at 0%. Lesson: Learn to use credit; just don't let it use you.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: MBNA as bad as posts say? I guess I just don't understand why they would need to call me if I call them and apply. I work at Best Buy and if anyone has ever tried to call a best buy you will know why they won't be able to get a hold of me...I don't know maybe I should look for another card...how is Bofa for limts? I have a plat checking and a savings through them and a loan for 18,000 would all of the stuff I have through them yield me a higher limit? or should I just call MBNA now and let them do everything over the phone now? I am just worried if they try to call me they may NEVER find me:-(
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: MBNA as bad as posts say? They DON'T call unless it is really NECESSARY...
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: MBNA as bad as posts say? Because they want to make sure that "you" are really "you". They don't have to be the ones to call you. YOU CAN CALL THEM. They just want to talk to you to verify your identity and credit history. This is a GOOD thing. MBNA is one of the few companies to actually employ credit analysts to analyze your profile, without being score driven. This is your decision...
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: MBNA as bad as posts say? Okay I will apply online and call later today, thank you all sooo much for all of the valuable insight on MBNA and how things work with them!
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: MBNA as bad as posts say? You might as well CALL to apply...THEY CAN GIVE YOU AN ANSWER BEFORE YOU HANG UP!!!
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: MBNA as bad as posts say? They called my husband at home. They will try during the day and in the evening. They will probably catch you. The other reason they call is to clarify any questions they may have after reviewing your credit report. Also, they don't always call. Sometimes you will be approved without them calling you. When I was approved, they did not call.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: MBNA as bad as posts say? I hope it works for you. I think you'll enjoy the card, but just stay informed: http://consumers.creditnet.com/straighttalk/board/showthread.php?s=&threadid=46020
