Oh look at this statement...that is now even more unclear...

You said that inq. get purged from the record within a month ??? Whose record-creditor's or CRA's ???

The inq. they pulled on me will stay on my report for 2 years and that is not AR inq. (soft). We are talking here about hard inq. That's what is bothering me. I don't care how long it stays in MBNA's system.

The industry has made frequent (even daily) monitoring of reports a necessity. Inaccurate / abusive credit policies, scoring and reporting are our enemy, and the best way to deal with this enemy is to go on the offensive. Why risk finding out about errors when we apply for credit and then need to spend lord knows how many days, weeks, months attempting to fix what's broken? The "recommended" once a year, even twice a year or quarterly monitoring of CRs is a joke. It's asking for trouble.

Bottom line is this. If creditors and bureaus got their act together to the point that what's reflected on our reports and in our scores was a lot more accurate than now, I suspect we'd back off. Paranoia's just fine, thank you, when an industry lacks sufficient concern for accuracy and puts the burden on its customers to fix what creditors and CRAs have broken - time and time again. Paranoia used to be an emotional affliction. Now it's a necessity.

P.S. Are YOU content with a system that has created errors in 7 of 10 credit reports? Is THIS fact not reason enough to stay constantly on top of things - especially when it enters into more and more decisions affecting your life?

...AND MORE~~why have I been working on my credit reports for 20+ years to get them 100% ACCURATE...and I have NEVER had any BADDIES???

THAT IS WHY ONCE A YEAR OR EVEN FOUR TIMES A YEAR IS A JOKE!!!

Maybe I will get them 100% ACCURATE in the NEXT 20 YEARS???

    OPEN AS CLOSED
    CLOSED AS OPEN
    BALANCE MONTHS OLD
    "WHOS ACCOUNT" UNKNOWN
    CREDIT LIMIT $0
    CREDIT LIMIT N/A
    CREDIT LIMIT <-----------BLANK
"CONSUMER DISPUTES THIS ACCOUNT" I ONLY DISPUTED THE BALANCE OF $17,500 FOR 3 MONTHS IN A ROW WHEN THE BALANCE WAS NEVER OVER $100!!!
ASK A CRA TO MAKE THE CREDIT LIMIT 100% ACCURATE~~CREDIT LIMIT N/A IS NOT 100% ACCURATE...$15,500 CREDIT LIMIT IS 100% ACCURATE...SO THEY "HARD" DELETE...ACCOUNT WILL NEVER RETURN!!!

I think it's great that CA is posting here, and interacts with us. We, of necessity, have a different point of view. We know what credit affects and what it doesn't. The average consumer is cruising along thinking that they are getting the best rate they can get, or that they have the highest limit they can get - they never think to call and ask for a better rate, or higher limit. We do this to improve our scores because we want higher scores. It does not mean we are in financial trouble.

I work in the insurance industry - it takes an effort sometimes for me to see both sides of an issue (like the discussion regarding CLUE reports). All consumers really know is that someone is collecting information about them. They don't know what it says or what it means or how it is used - so they want to know. Sometimes consumer misinterpret the whole thing. But once a consumer has encountered an unfair practice, from that point on, it is all seen as unfair. It is like a game where they are forced to play, but no one tells them the rules.

So we are here to experiment, report what happens, and tell each other the results.

Some people are more paranoid than others, but over a long period of time (I have been doing this for several years, as have many of us) we see a trend or a standing policy with a certain issuer. We use it, so we can play the game without losing.

We know each company wants to attract what they consider to be "the best customers." they want to charge as high an interest rate as they can without losing the business of good customers. They want to limit their risk exposure, so they are guarded about what limits they will give a new customer. Most have an internal scoring system. Sometimes we figure out bits and pieces of it. For instance, we have figured out (to some extent) what Citibank looks for in a customer, and have gotten CL increases that way.

We figure out who generally plays fair and who doesn't, and we pick and choose who we do business with. When we see something we perceive as unfair, we tell each other and discuss it, to determine if it is unfair or if there is a reason. If we find a reason, we can adjust what we do.

    SPEAKING OF "UNFAIR"

You dispute 7 different accounts because of various things like open as closed...closed as open...balances months old...credit limit is $5,000 not N/A...etc...etc...THEY CALL IT FRIVOLOUS...AND DO NOTHING!!!

SO YOU END UP TAKING MONTHS OR YEARS LONGER THAN IT SHOULD TO CORRECT A REPORT FOR 100% ACCURACY BECAUSE YOU CAN'T DISPUTE MORE THAN 4 ITEMS AT ONE TIME!!!

Agreed. The best outcome of this give and take, I believe, is that while CA shares policy manuals with us, we're able to share with him real life experiences. This will, hopefully, result in a better understanding on both parts. Stick around, CA.

Absolutely! BTW, where did rubyjean go? That's another credit analyst who used to post here. Probably got tired of the MBNA bashing, LOL. It's not personal, it's business.

I have NOTHING bad to say about MBNA EXCEPT no limit incease in 7+ years!!! And I am not good enough for some offer that they give to a "NEW CUSTOMER"

I laughed at the lady when she said NO to a $400 increase to "ROUND IT OFF"

I was at $0.00 balance at the time...

    I charged (BT'D) $10,000 and asked the same question...NO

    F.Y.I.~~MUST BE NO INQUIRY!!!

Be very careful on the payment side too.

Watch your payment date received by them AND check your deposit dates on the cleared check.

We got a statement with a late charge on it from MBNA. When we looked at the cleared and deposited date of the check it had cleared our bank in Chicago on the day before the payment was due.

When I called them on it, they tried to push me off and then admitted they made a mistake when I offered to fax them a copy of both sides of the check.

They voided the late charges AND took off the late on the CRA. I then had to push them again as they only took it off Exp and not TU.

So be forewarned, watch them like a hawk!!

    I USE PAY ON-LINE
    https://www.mbnanetaccess.com/NASApp/NetAccess/LoginDisplay

I make the payment date for "PAY DAY" or the day after...
I get paid every 2 weeks so I can make 2 payments if I want 2 weeks apart...

You could also PRE-ARRANGE (WEEKS IN ADVANCE) to pay (ON-LINE) the DAY BEFORE THE DUE DATE if that FLOATS YOUR BOAT!!!

We tried that pay online stuff.

Our accountant discourages paying online since a paper trail is not available during the online payment process.

When we send a check, there is a paper audit trail and history of the transaction is available.

When one asks MBNA for some slack on APR or min. payments because one just became unemployed instead of help they jack up both APR and min. payments because of 'concern over your present financial situation.'
That to me is a prime example of GREED and/or EVIL.

This is not a matter of what I believe but a matter of fact what happened. And I have seen similar posted by enough other people to be certain it is a matter of policy and not some atypical accident.

    "PRINT SCREEN"

The "EVIDENCE" is on their web site...

I can check ON-LINE to confirm payment "PROCESSED" on BOTH ends BEFORE I GO TO WORK...that is at 6am...

dolphin~~HOW DO YOU PROVE YOU MAILED A PAYMENT???

I'm not going to use CERTIFIED R/R for a payment to MBNA...or EXPRESS MAIL with tracking.

Get another accountant. There's plenty of proof. When I pay online I get confirmation numbers or some other sort of acknowledgement. As GEORGE said, you can print one or more screens to prove that you paid. Besides, just check your account online in a couple of days to make sure that your payment is reflected. Sure beats trusting the mail or the card company's internal posting system.

Also...some companies allow for same day payment (with possibly a service fee) in case you find yourself needing to pay on the day payment is due. Maybe a fee? Yup, but if ya gotta ya gotta.
