Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: MBNA cardholders...be very careful Sheepshead is right, when an accountant discourages online payments it's time to find another accountant. Online payments are especially important when you have an APO\FPO address. There is a 7 day slide at minimum with such an address, and when the service center gets clogged up of the local Embassy exceeds their mail quota, you don't get mail for about a week more. And what then? It's the same with outgoing mail, so it can happen that you mail your payment 2 weeks in advance and it still posts late. Of course you don't need an APO address to mess up your credit history either. USPS does a great job at not delivering mail on time in general. Also, AmEx Billpayer does EFT instead of a regular check payment with some financial institutions and then payments get posted real quick. And yes, you do get a confirmation. My accountant does about everything online. According to him, relying on USPS to deliver checks on time is just asking for trouble. PawMix
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: MBNA cardholders...be very careful I get same day credit when I pay online. I print/save the payment confirmation page. I have that, plus bank statement whoing ACH transaction as proof. Your accountant is running about a decade behind, IMO. Once your card company knows you don't ever bounce payments, they give immediate credit.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: MBNA cardholders...be v Thank you. I appreciate that. And I am here to hear from you guys on the consumer end of things and find out your opinions. I use one credit card and pay it off each month. I have student loans and a car loan and no debt other than that. I can see my FICO score for free anytime I want to, so I know if anything is off. I've been lucky in that aspect. But I am still young and will need credit a lot more in the next few years and will appreciate everything on here. CA
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: MBNA cardholders...be v dolphin, reconsider paying online. With access to both the bank and credit card sites you will know within a couple days whether the payment went through. My bank also lets me look at both sides of cleared checks - online. (which, of course, I can print) I've never had the credit card companies play games with my payments when I pay online. Woeful
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: MBNA cardholders...be v woeful then your the lucky one. they have held my online payment up to 12 yes 12 days!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: MBNA cardholders...be v The only problem I found with Rubyjean was that she supposedly worked for MBNA but there were so many things she said MBNA wouldn't/couldn't do that I had MBNA do for me. Her information was not the most accurate. There is a HUGE MBNA facility in the area where I live (the biggest outside of DE). I know a few friends that work there, I should see if I can get one to start coming here.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: MBNA cardholders...be v Willgator, I believe! Sounds like you've been through one of those online gruesome gratutiously scully autopsies. I can relate. I don't have MBNA but I've been lucky with my umpteen revolving other cards and online payment. With one exception. I had been viewing my Chase card online for months and thought I would try to pay online at their site - even though I could pay from my bank. Chase wanted more information. I'm trying to pay them and their "management team" wants a utility bill and verification of employment and address. This is to pay the bill online. I already had their card for seven years. I had no derogs and 700+scores and politely withdrew my application for their online payment "service". The very next month I was hit with a change in terms notice. So yeah, online hasn't always been good to me. In what other business is this behavior acceptable? I mean, besides the carnival. Woeful
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: MBNA cardholders...be v These are not "hard" inquiries. These are called "soft" or Account Review (AR) inquiries. They do not hurt your score. Platinum stated that MBNA pulled what is known as a "hard" inquiry, which is harmful to a person's credit score. And MBNA has the ability to pull AR inquiries. They just chose not to in his/her case. I maintain that they do it for greed. There is a reason they pull the hard inquiries on people whom they deem risky credit profiles. They don't want that person to have an easy ability to shift the balance elsewhere. I get my reports monthly. Sometimes, once every two months. When I was in the throes of getting my credit reports accurate, I pulled my reports weekly. Sometimes, I pay. Sometimes, I don't. People do whatever they need to to feel that the CRAs are doing a proper job of maintaining an accurate report. Paranoid? No. Smart and pro-active? Yes!
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: MBNA cardholders...be v marci, I completely agree. Credit card companies pretend to be all about "risk management" yet it's really about trapping someone with a balance they can't move. woe
I always paid my balance in full with MBNA. They did not make any money of me so far. I think she got mad on me when I told her that MBNA is not competetive with their rates. I said 9.99 is my highest rate and do not expect from me to carry the balance ever and pay that rate. She than asked me what is my best rate and I told her it's Chase 6.99 and that I use them for everyday purchases.I now believe that she pulled hard just for revenge.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: MBNA cardholders...be very careful HIGH BALANCE~~$1,000 CURRENT BALANCE~~$900 CAPITAL ONE MAKES YOU ALMOST "MAXED" ACCORDING TO F.I.C.O. SCORING... "REAL" BALANCE TO CREDIT LIMIT RATIO~~10% GEORGE ========================= SO WE GET THE SHAFT!!! when mbna and others jack your intrest and premiums because of it. Re: MBNA cardholders...be v Platinum......who do you get eq daily from for only $25 a year?~! I want some of that!
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: MBNA cardholders...be v If you are risky, they WANT you to move the balance elsewhere. That's why they're encouraging home equity loans to these customers. And they don't have a "choice" of pulling a soft or hard inquiry. There are 2 programs analysts can have and you can only have one of them. So if you're applying for credit, you're speaking w/someone who will pull a hard, and if you're asking for an APR reduction, you're speaking with someone who can *only pull* a soft.
Re: Re: MBNA cardholders...be v Too late...I signed up on May 29th, 2002 One day special...really special promotion thanks to Doc again...ha, ha, ha, Bravo Maestro...
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: I can't believe this... ...you still don't understand or don't believe that rate department pulled HARD ???...and NO I am not risky customer...I always paid my balance in full and when I called my balance was $7. The problem with credit analysts...they listen rarely...
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: CA - I'm not speaking for Platinum. He can speak for him self quite well. My thoughts point back to what I said yesterday. You're referring to a policy manual and Platinum is pointing to real life. Here's a real test for future interaction. CA - can you speak with associates to see if they've heard of hard pulls for rate-related decisions? And if so, under what specific circumstances?
