Hey folks! I am constantly getting those convenience checks from my Platinum Plus accounts with my statements. Now that I actually want to use them...if I write one to myself and deposit it into my checking account, will a BT fee be assessed? Also, will the balance be listed as a cash advance or would I get the promo rate for BTs? Before I go off with a $2200 check I want to make sure I'm getting the best deal possible. Thanks in advance!!
Call the Toll Free Number on the Back of your Credit Card and ask if they could transfer you to the Balance Transfer Department. After you get there, tell them that you are interested in having money deposited into your checking account . If you have a promo rate for Balance transfers, that is the rate that you will get..You may want to ask them to waive the fee for you.. The fee is usually 3% of the amount or 40.00 whichever is less.. You can do the same with the Access checks , but there is a definate fee with that of the same that I listed above.. Good Luck
Be careful if those checks have been sitting around for a while. They have expiration dates and if they are past the date, the check will bounce. I learned this the hard way. MBNA does not always tell you there is a time limit on the BT checks
