I agree too. I had a charge-off with them way back when I was dumb. They knew my situation was hopeless and tried to get 6 months of payments out of me by some sort of "we'll help you out" program. Glad I didn't take it.

I really don't like them and have made certain via that charge-off, that I will not do business with them again!

Ohh I've got a good one for you.

MBNA closed our account around 2000 for high utilization too. We called, talked to them for 15 minutes about always paying on time and paying more than minimum, they said "OK, we'll reopen". One hard inquiry later we got a denial letter in the mail.

A week after the denial letter, I go online and see the credit card account as 'active'. It was listed as 'closed' the day before.

So I take the car and charge some small thing on it just to see if it works. It sure does.

So, the closed the account, wouldn't reopen because of high utilization, but they did reopen anyway.

    Go figure,

I just called regular CSR and let them know I want a lower Purchase APR...and that 7.9% sounds a lot more reasonable!.......mine was 10.99% for the Fidelity Investments PLAT PLUS card......she put me on hold for 7 minutes, and came back and said its now 7.9% for purchases..i have 1.99% apr for BT's right now..........funny thing is when they closed the account to now....there is hardly any difference in all 3 cra's......they just close it when they want and pull HARD! inq's when they feel like it....and open it back if they are in a good mood that day....

good luck to all w/MBNA America...
