A friend of mine called last night to ask me about a card from MBNA called Platinum Plus Elite. Terms seemed decent; 14.99% rate, no annual fee. Standard application, no pre-approval. Has anyone else gotten this offer?
I got rid of my MBNA accounts. The are not what they seem. You should investigate the class action suite against them for misleading statements before getting involved.
Michael brings up a good point. Although MBNA are not the worst in the business, I have read posts about their arbitrary interest rate increases. Apparently they have a "we can change these terms at any time" clause in their contracts. If they hiked everyone's interest rates, then they would have few customers left, but they will mess with some people to see if they cancel their accounts or transfer their balances. If not, then they mess with those same people again. Again, MBNA are far from the worst, but I think that Chase and Citibank show a lot more fairness, good will, and generosity.
