Hi All. First post, after discovering this amazing site two days ago. Here's my situation: I've been working on my credit for about 45 days now. Wishing that I had found this website earlier. I've had a bit of success simply by disputing some negative items on the online websites, but for the most part not much is happening. my second round of online disputes ends their 30 day cycle next week, but I have called the CRAs and determined that nearly everything I disputed has already been validated. My credit issues are as follows: All three CRAs show two accounts with MBNA that have serious delinquincies. My Platinum Plus account has 5 30 day lates, and 1 60 day late. The most recent late was 12/01, the earliest is the 60 day in 12/00. I have disputed this online to no effect. I also tried calling them this evening to see if they would do a goodwill adjustment (with a very strong, and true, hardship story). The rep was very nice, spoke with her manager, and returned saying that there was nothing they could do with this many delinquencies -- and they NEVER make adjustments for a 60 day. She suggested I write to the credit bureaus if I knew that there was anything that they had done wrong and that it would be removed, but acknowledged that their records showed they had tried to contact me, etc. Incidentally, the card is maxed out to its 25K limit. The second MBNA nightmare is a loan with IBM for a computer. This has two 90 days, most recently in April 2002, 3 60 days, and NINE 30 days. I know, I know, I'm an idiot. It is showing as a closed/current account, with about $1900 owed on a credit line of $7500. I've got 1 30 day late on a car loan, but they have agreed to remove it and have sent a letter to the CRAs to this effect. I also sent a copy of the letter they sent me via fax yesterday, but of course nothing yet. I have a state tax lien showing as released on EQ and TU. TU shows it twice, with the identical notation. I spoke with the County recorder's office, and they told me that the first item is the filing, and the second is the release (two case files). The lien was released in 3/1996, so it should be coming off in 9 months, but since the dates are incorrect, and it is reported as TWO liens, I think I may have some luck by disputing the dates. But advice is appreciated. I have one 30 day late from Washington Mutual on all three reports from 10/2000. It has been verified. I am in conversations with WAMU, telling them that the payment was marked RETURN TO SENDER by the post office (true) and that the WAMU rep told me when I paid 10 days late that I needn't worry and it wouldn't hit my credit reports. SO far they have told me, nicely, that unless I can produce the envelope in question, there's nothing they can do. I explained that since THEIR employee told me not to worry, I threw it away. So far they are not budging, despite being the only late on 4 years of ontime payments, and a v. large balance ($961K). Any advice as to what the law says about this is much appreciated. Finally, There's a single 30 day late from FUSA noted on TU and EQ from 10/2000 (a rough month for me...). It's been verified, and when I asked FUSA if they would consider removing it, the rep told me that there were actually 2 30 day lates, not one. I dropped the issue. My scores are currently: EXP: 649; EQ 690 (due to all the disputes -- was at 558); TU 621. I am trying to do a refinancing of my mortgage, and these scores aren't getting me there. I do know that paying down my credit cards, which are all at, or near, their limits will help -- but I can't pay them down until I refinance, and consolidate the debt in a new 2nd. A catch-22. Any and all advice is welcomed, and greatly appreciated!
How much equity in the house? The lates are going to make it tough. Maybe once everyone wakes up this morning you will get some good advice. Keep us posted and welcome.
I've got plenty of equity -- waiting on an appariasal, but my current 1st & 2nd are at about 65% cltv, worst case. I am going to try WAMU for the refi first, since I have a good history with them.
Good news! Washington Mutual told me today that they are delteting my late pay. They promised to send me a letter via fax, which didn't arrive, so I will call again tomorrow. Still looking for advice on the rest! Especially MBNA...help, PLEASE!
Are you refinancing in order to pay the debt? If you tell them, that, it might help them decide, who knows....
MBNA Will not remove valid delinquency, If it is due to a situation that is not your fault, such as misposted payments , Not receiving statements, Fraud, ect They will remove all delinquency and bring your account current..
MBNA is a pain in the ass. I disputed something with them, and they ignored it for 2 years. Good thing I have my little green cards with their signature. The lawsuit is pending, I hope to nail them to the wall.
That is absolutely untrue! I had multiple 30 day lates and 2 60 day lates on 2 accounts with MBNA all of them were valid...I really was late. I wrote a goodwill letter to them back in May asking if they would remove the lates from my record and they did. So MBNA will remove valid delinquencies but I'm sure it probably has something to do with the letter you write and how much they value you as a customer in the future. (i.e. how much money they think they can make off you in the future <g>)
Well, according to Rubyjean, MBNA will never do anything to help a consumer. How many times now has RJ been proven wrong?
