I got an offer in the mail for an MBNA card (Chicago Bulls Plat. Visa). I called in my application. How easy are they to get? I have a couple of First Premier master cards and an Orchard mastercard and a target all never late. Target is 3 years old and all others less than one year. What are my chances? They did say that if I didn't qualify for the plat. visa they would give something else if I did qualify for the something else (forgot what they called it) Also, is there a number to call and check status or a website? Thanks
Um, in my experience, MBNA is pretty tough to get. I mean, I applied w/them probably a dozen times before I was finally approved a couple of years ago. I've been told they won't approve any app. w/a BK, chargeoff of other "major" deliquency. The only way I know of to check an app is to call 1.800.WEB.APPLY and ask for application status. Let us know if you get approved. I've liked MBNA so far, but recently, they've been pulling some nonsense on my account...
Just called the regular number for application and they said that I was not approved. That's ok....I'll live! Still rebuilding and I just thought I'd give it a shot!
If you can, try to get a student card with them, its alot easier. I got one through my university when I didn't have good scores at all and no credit history.
I was recentlly approved for a MBNA Plat. for $5000 with a 688 Experian Fako. They had sent me an app. 6-8 months before I applied. I just had a couple lates and a high Util. I guess I got lucky.
It took me about a dozen trys also before I got the card that initially was $1500. Of course you need decent credit but one of the things they most look at is your cl on your other credit cards and they want them to be a couple years old. The guy told us they like to see other ccs trust you with cls of $1500 or high for awhile before they trust you. If you have this or are close then call in and talk to someone in person. That is what I did.
Does anyone know how long you need to wait before you apply again after denial? My dh was approved with his TU and later they sent letter saying he had bk on his exp. I was approved with only my tu.
I think it is fair to say that if you have a BK or a serious delinquency/chargeoff, you are not going to get approved by MBNA, not even the student card. Does not matter what your scores are or what your limits are. Anyone with information to the contrary?.
I actually asked MBNA about it during a phone conversation. The CSR stated pretty clearly that with a BK on the record there is not a snowball chance in hell that they will approve. They are also not interested in people using CCS. The again, that is just one opinion. I had 3 different CSRs tell me three different things about their inability to decrease my APR. PawMix
lbrown, call them and tell them that you have just gone through a nasty divorce that cost you big bucks and that you will never be able to pay this card with such a high APR. Don't forget to start sobbing at some point during the conversation and make a really sorry and beaten up impression. Worked for us, LOL. PawMix
his bk (which was pre-me and I unlike the loser lawyer would have told him not to do it) will fall off soon so he may have to wait, however......my point was this: MBNA approved me with TU only. They approved him based on his TU (25k cl!!) so he obviously has re-established excellent credit - bk notwithstanding. Some are the accounts that were not included in the bk and others are since then. AT the time he was told he had no choice, (car accident, out of work) of course he knows better now and has taken care of his credit and money accordingly. I just wondered if he re-applied in the future if they'd approve him on one pull, like they did me. They offered him a higher cl. Later we got the letter so when they pulled exp is beyond me.
I'm sure you will get same answer until bk is gone off all reports. i'm sure they flagged his ss# after the first app.
No, Amy but I did stay at a holiday inn express last night. I've just talked to so many of the people in retention and special depts and heard so much info that I try to pass on what little I've learned. Sorry if I bother some people. Ron and george would be two others with vast knowledge on the subject, also marci ,and a lot of others I don't have the time to name.
Gosh you aren't bothering me, I find it interesting. I was just curious. I appreciate all the knowledge here.
