for $15K. What a trip. The rep goes on and on about what a great payment history I have on my CR. "Is there anything else I can do for you Mr. Quixote? Have you thought about applying for a Platinum card with MBNA, Mr. Quixote?" "Sure", sez I, "let's apply for that too..." Called back this morning for a decision and they tell me, "Sure, we'll approve you for $5K and you can BT up to $4500 of that at 1.7%" Anything else we can do for you, Mr. Quixote?" What a different world...
You might be able to transfer the cl to the platinum card and get the whole thing at 1.7%. I just did that myself. My LOC is at 11% so it was a great deal.
No secrets. I just have kept plugging. I mentioned to you in another thread, that all the benefit accrues with the last few deletions. On December 7, 2001, I was turned down for a Target card, for cryin' out loud. Well, I've gotten my last deletions on EX and EQ. Only one Bad left on TU and it's six years old. I've posted a lot of Progress Reports along the way. Here's some links that will give you a feel for the Blow-By-Blow activity.: September 2001 Mid-December, 2001- (first BIG victory and one of the luckiest threads ever) Late December,2001 HUGE Victory over Cap1 was outlined here (This one I'm actually kinda proud of. I took other people's ideas (mostly Doc and Bill Bauer, with a little bit of Christi's Intent To Sue thrown in), added to them, and applied them in a unique way. I'm similarly proud of the Chevron deletions. The one thing I haven't done yet is sue anybody. But I'll take care of that this afternoon. Tom
WOW. What number did you call? That's a smokin' deal compared to the 15.9% I have on my LOC. Any special words, phrases, approached, etc. that should be invoked?
Well, let me say congratulations! BUT, let me also add, be very careful with these accounts, because MBNA is taking anyone who defaults into arbitration immediately. You sign away your rights when you accept these accounts. May I suggest the account protection? I know, I know.... but do a search for MBNA and arbitration...
Congrats May I ask what your ratios are?? I applied awhile back and they pulled both Exp and TU, my fake scores were 722 and 688 got denied. My balances were higher on TU ( not updating)
Thanks for the advice, Breeze. I'll do that. As to ratios, with two bouts of unemployment this year, they are VERY high. Ugly high. But not any more... Both approvals, BTW, didn't happen until I called them, they grilled me on the phone about my ratios, my lack of credit history prior to 2000 (thirty-something deletes will do that), etc. Then they said, well, it looks good. It's all approved.
Call the telesales number to move the LOC to the platinum card. I don't know it off the top of my head, but if you search, you'll find it.
Congrats Tom! I'm also thinking about applying for MBNA (in November - have to stick to my "will not apply til Nov Oath") Wanted to ask you - if it's not too personal - how many open ccs do you have - and how much credit do you have - aside from MBNA? (I have 8 ccs - 60K total - not including Generations hidden - and i'm afraid they'll deny me for too much credit) thanks in advance Mark LA
MBNA Telesales 1-800-862-0910 It said it was a non working MBNA number. Does anyone else have a good number to call and apply for a cc. I hope I can talk them into it also.
What I have versus what is showing is a bit different. What is showing on EX (where both INQ's showed up-EXCEPT that for the Platinum, they ALSO pulled TU--home of the Paid Charge Off from Macy's- already faxed in disputes), Citi Platinum is showing with a $14,500 CL and about $13,000 Balance (since paid down two thousand- but not yet reported), a Target Visa with a $700 CL and a $300 balance (since paid, but not reported), and a Penney's card with a $200 CL and a $75 balance. That's it for revolving. I also show a car loan that's 18 months from done. So, as I said, very high ratios. I'll move things around a bit to improve the look of the balances, as well as reduce payments. The one thing that they both commented on and really seemed to dwell on was payment history. The fact that that is perfect (with the exception of Macy's, which was paid in full six years ago), seemed to be the determining factor.
The number I called to find out about the LOC was 1-888-844-3775. When I wanted to ask about the status on the credit card I called the same number and they were able to transfer me to the cc dept. Incidentally, for what it's worth, when I was talking to the gal who approved the LOC, she mentioned that their underwriting was considerably more lenient than the credit card people and they tended to give much higher CL's. If, as has been mentioned, we can go back and piggy back it onto the platinum, we just may have an new Back Door Double.
Ok I called in and they said I had to write or fax a request in for reconsideration and that a senior credit rep would call back and discuss the report. Is there any direct number I could call to discuss it like right now as patience is not one of my virtues.
Try the 888 number I just posted. Explain who you're looking for and they're pretty good about transferring you to the right place. Good Luck!
Ok I called the above # who transferred me to some application department who took it then transferred me to the credit department. They said my credit looked good but they had to decline me because my ccs were not 3-5 years old. My 3 year cc was deleted by first premier bank so my other 2 are 11 months old and 4 months old. She said she wishes she could approve but they have to go by strict guidelines. A few weeks ago I talked to first premier about getting the cc back and they said they would so I hope 1)they did not lie and 2) it does not take forever. When it hits(they pulled my TU 673) I will fax in the info like they said for a reconsideration.
