I have tried in November of 2001 and sometime in the middle of 2000 for a credit line increase from MBNA. Got turned down both times with scores in the 700s. Just applied online and got approved for Gold Reserve LOC. Asked for 10k, got 10k. Called sometime later.....they will be adding that 10k to my Quantum card in the next 72 hours. Took about 5 minutes for the approval to show up online. The bad news is they did two hard inquires on my Exp, haven't checked TU or Eq. But, would rather have two hards for a credit increase instead of one for nothing.
Love, I will try to do so when I get some time. BTW, my score is now 736 after the drop of 4 points from the inquires and some balances that haven't come off yet. Once the 10k in balances are gone, it should be back in the 780s.
My reply to you dissappeared somewhere. Anyways, it only dropped 4 points. However, I did have 3 mortgage inquires on 9/13/01, 1 Amex from 5/00, and 1 insurance from 3/00. These may have already dropped my score due to inquires, and the extra 2 didn't matter much. BTW, my inquires showed up within 15 minutes of the application.
Re: MBNA no CL increase, apr'd for MBNA is about the only prime issuer whose system I haven't been able to "crack"© Yet© My current cards are with Amex, Citi, Chase and Bank of America© No Quantum yet© Saar
Re: MBNA no CL increase, apr'd for At least you only have high class banks in your wallet. I have Amex, Citi, MBNA, Target (just becuase I had a guest card forever, still only show as opened since 98), and Wells Fargo (had since 97, use one every 6 months). I have the vast majority of my credit limits with Amex, Citi, and MBNA so the others just sit there. Do you mind if I ask your APR on your 4 good cards (and CL if that isn't asking too much)? I have never recieved an offer from BofA and the APR offered on Chase were above my 9.9% limit. I'll make sure to return the favor if you want me to.
Re: MBNA no CL increase, apr'd for Amex Blue: 9©9% fixed - their lowest ¥There's also an Optima Platinum 9©9% product¤ Citi Platinum Select: variable P+1©9% ¥lowest is P+0©9%¤ Chase & BofA: both new, both 12©something% ¥fixed¤, both will be lowered to 9©9% ¥their lowest¤ once they're 6 month old© Chase can lower your permanent rate if you have some history with them and don't have a promo APR at the time you ask for a rate cut; As for BofA, after 5-6 months w/ them, their Retention dept© can cut your APR as well© Saar
Re: MBNA no CL increase, apr'd for Saar, Good luck getting the BofA apr lowered. I have had their card almost 2 years, and they won't budge on the apr. Mine is like 18-19%. Obviously with a rate like that I only use the card for bts.
Re: MBNA no CL increase, apr'd for BofA Retention should lower your APR: 1-800-776-6602 ¥I've also found them very responsive to PFB¤© Saar
Re: MBNA no CL increase, apr'd for More than once? :¤ They've initially declined my card application; PFBed and they went ahead approving it© What reason did "R" give you? Saar
Re: MBNA no CL increase, apr'd for They just tell me it is the best rate available on my account. In February, I am elligible to try again for a limit increase. I'll wait till then before I try the pfb route again. that way if they don't increase my limit I can complain about that too.
Re: MBNA no CL increase, apr'd for Hey Saar, Very nice, thank you. Here are mine as promised Amex Blue 9.9% fixed, I agree, this is their lowest. Citi Platinum Select P+1.9% Planning on trying for 0.9% MBNA Quantum Card 9.9% fixed This is the lowest I've heard of. Target Visa 9.9% fixed Which is the lowest Wells Fargo P+4.9% (their floor is 7.7%, so actually comes out to 12.6%). I would close but it is my oldest non-store revolving account I recently accepted preapproval online for the Amex Optima Plat. If approved, plan to add CL to Blue. Considering opening reg. Amex card to get OPEN charge account type on my report to improve my credit mix. All of my credit cards are reporting as over three years old (except blue @ 1.5 yrs) so I am a little hesitant to close Target and WF and low my score due the average time my accts are open would be less. My big three have good rates and are with good banks. I think I will stay the way I am unless one of the three screw up (by raising my APR or something like that) or a really great offer comes along from BofA or Chase. It nice to know both of their policies with APR reduction, as it was the 12% offers that kept me from signing up in the first place. I can't think of any other banks I would consider opening an account with. No Fleet. No Providian. Considered Providian @ 8.9% fixed becuase of the Chase buyout of accounts. But it was right after the press release and fixed if it didn't get sold, what a piece of sh!t I would have. Thanks again for the info Saar

Re: MBNA no CL increase, apr'd for Hi Jason, Do you mind telling me exactly what Quantum card you have (plain v. rewards) and the history of your account that got you a 9.9 fixed apr? Mine is 12.99% and I didn't think I could go lower than that. How'd you do it? Thanks,
Re: MBNA no CL increase, apr'd for Sure Marci, I have the plain one. The 9.99% was by invitation only. I talked to customer service at length and was told without invitation the lowest they could offer for a new customer was 11.99%. As for an existing customer getting 9.99%, I'm not sure the best way to try. Have you ever tried the concierge service? Anyone else with Quantum tried it? Good luck to ya.
Re: MBNA no CL increase, apr'd for Thanks, Jason. Wow. That's a good rate. Especially considering all the perks you get with the card. I have not used the concierge service yet. Have you? If so, how does it work? I come from a "peasant" background, lol, and don't quite know about these "high falutin'" services.
Re: MBNA no CL increase, apr'd for jaj1701, I just called them to lower the rate for my Quantum Card and they told me 11.99 is the best rate for exsisting customer. They do offer me 5.99% for BT and cash advance until June 2002. I don't have anything to BT or cash advance. I told them I don't need that. I had account with them for a year and my Quantum Card is upgraded from Garfield Plat. Plus. Ron.
Re: MBNA no CL increase, apr'd for Hey Marci, Ya, I've never used "high falutin" services either. Want to sometime though. Possibly to try to get great tickets to some big event or somthing. I agree, I am very happy with the rate I got. Hey Ron, So the 11.99% IS the best for existing and new customers w/o invitation. If I ever hear lower I will let you know. So, did you get the 11.99% for your account? That 5.9% BT is interesting. I may have to inquire about that.
