Hi again, I just got a call from MBNA - apparently I'm pre-approved (!) for a Platinum Plus Mastercard. I've already got a Plat Plus Visa. They're offering 3.99% for 4 months, then 14.99 same as the other one. I went ahead and did two balance transfers, but I really don't think they're going to open another account. Has anyone else gotten a call like this? What was the result? Thanks.
Hi, I work for MBNA. I can tell you that you got the call, like lots of other people, for the card because of you past credit history. It wasnt a "preapproved" offer. Instead it was an offer made to cardholders that have kept their current account is excellent standing. MBNA wanted to reward you by giving you the other card and giving you back your promo rate with free balance transfers. You still will have to go through processing to determine if you have the ability, stablity, and willingness to pay. A credit analyst will determine that and may approve you. They will then process your balance transfers and send you your information. If you are not approved. Nothing will happen. Good luck psugirl
Oh....ok then. Thanks for your response. I guess if I have any more MBNA questions, you're the person to ask!!
IS YOUR NAME CROSS REFERENCED BY "PSUGIRL" ??? SO I CAN TALK TO YOU AND YOU CAN TELL ME THE TRUTH, INSTEAD OF THE LIES I HAVE BEEN GETTING (NEVER MBNA AMERICA, JUST OTHER CARD COMPANIES).
You can ask me any question that you would like george. I will help you as much as my knowledge allows. If I cant help you enough, I will give you information where you question can be better answered. Psugirl
PSUgirl, I called MBNA last night at the number the guy left for me Thursday night. She said I was approved! Since it was so recent, she didn't have any information for me as far as limit or anything, but she said something like the number had been generated, but not created yet. I can call back in 3-4 days and they can give me the details. Hope she wasn't just stalling me out until the reject letter gets here
I don't mean to be rude psugirl. But I have to tell you: if I worked for a credit card company and answered a question in your manner, ie... mispellings and grammar errors, I would think my ass would be history. It was shabby. I have no confidence in your answers. Where did you work before this job?
Hey Guy, where do you get off, criticizing someone else's grammar? Are you the grammar and spelling POLICE?? First off, you are new to this board and PSU has a lot of useful information to offer consumers like you. So instead of jumping on PSUGIRL's back and riding her on the MBNA issues. Bring knowledge to the board and prosper from the knowledge of others.
Hey Guy, Where do you get off telling me what my morals are and who and what comments I can criticize? Who are you, the Thought Police? LOL.
lol good one just making a point. Is not trying to tell you about your morals. Good Luck in your credit search
PSUgirl... CHANGING THE SUBJECT... My MBNA AMERICA account when it was under $20,000, I got AUTOMATIC credit line increases all the time, will I no longer get automatic credit line increases even though I still have never been late or over limit??? F.Y.I. OPENED ACCOUNT 1996...
Im a full time college student, work, and im in many other activities and things including maintaining a social life. My responses to posts on this board are quick and not proof read. So, im usually doing 5 other thing when i reply to someones posts or post something myself. My points are obviously clear. Im not sitting around proof reading what i write, neither should you. i have better things to do. Also, if you want to know, i have very long nails, so i may mis type once in a while. You are certainly not obligated to read anything that i write. Im not here to satisfy you. I type my opinions and suggestions. It is then upto you and everyone else to take it for what it's worth. People get lots of advise in life, and where they end up is due to what path they choose to take from whose advise they choose to follow. Psugirl
Re: PSUgirl... Your increases are given based on 3 policies that mbna uses ALL the time: Your ability Your stability Your willingness to pay There are many factors that contribute to each of those three. Therefore, you may not be eligible to receive higher credit lines due to your ability, stability, and willingness to pay. I would call on tuesday customer service: 1-800-421-2110 and speak to someone about a credit increase. If they say that they will have to pull your credit reports. YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT THEY ARE GOING TO USES THREE POLICIES TO DETERMINE IF YOU QUALIFY FOR AN INCREASE. Good luck. p.s. If customer service doesnt help, try rentention. If you had your account that long, mbna WILL want to keep your business. Explain yourself and what you think you should have, and if your account is in excellent standing, you might get it! psugirl
Re: PSUgirl... George, Is it possible that $20,000 is the ceiling for the type of card you have? Maybe they would want to move you to a new card to increase you any further. Just a thought. Also, PSUgirl, I appreciate your knowledgable posts and good advice. As I would imagine most people do. Thanks.
Re: PSUgirl... george, MBNA doesnt have any credit cards where 20000 is the max. Im assuming that you have a platinum card, credit limit is between 5000 to 100000. So, you have some room to impove and get some increases. lofico, thanks psugirl
Re: PSUgirl... George, Believe me, your account is still being reviewed every month. But, the qualifications for more increases are not there due to those three key words....ability, stability, and willingness to pay. However, if you want an increase, you would have to apply....inquiry....for it. If not happy with the limit you have, i would stickwith it. Its pretty high! psugirl
