I talked to a supervisor and she changed the APR back after reviewing all three reports on AR inquiries.

She told me it may have merely been a computer error and will fax me confirmation that the interest rate is now fixed.

    She was VERY nice.

did you ask for a refund for the finance charges already calculated at that ridiculous rate???

I'd ask for something for your trouble. Much lower apr (in addition to taking you back where you were), higher loc, interest rebated for several months.. something for your inconvenience.

Oh wow! I know it's paranoid, but I think those computers randomly select people for this, and the one's who don't notice it get stuck with the high rate.

After all, don't most people just grab the bill and write a check without really reading it?

They must be using Faire Ikes computers.

I had no balance this month, so she said I didn't get any actual charges from the change.

last time MBNA did this to me, they pulled a hard inquiry on my report in order to undo the apr raising. Just be on the look out for an extra hard inquiry from them.

Well, I still say MBNA sucks. :)

In fact, there's a whole web site devoted to the topic:
