Had an MBNA credit card since Deb 99 for $2000. In April 2003 I accidently made a paypal payment for 2000 instead of 200. It was canceled in time but I call MBNA to notify them. As a result they pulled my credit report and canceled my card saying I had a BK. I called up and got it reinstated withh a $500 limit despite no problems for 3 1/2 yrs. Now I called for an increase at least to $1000 and they said I dont have enough credit history. I faxed bank statements and pay slips and they said it doent matter. Its my oldest card so I cant cancel but does anyone know what I can do. Do you have a contact at MBNA?

I tried PFB with no response

    CANCEL IT ANYWAY!!!

You can take your business to other banks...

I know it is your OLDEST CARD...but it doesn't HURT like 50 or 100 points to lose ONE CARD...even if it is your oldest...

    Cancel it.

Of all the banks, AMEX and MBNA are the least cooperative when you've been bad.

Open another account, perhaps Citi AAdvantage. Then pay off MBNA. Depending how many other cards you have, you may want to "sock drawer" it for a while before you cancel.

What is the rest of your history like?

This is just like MBNA. Any excuse to cancel or jack rates will work for them. I'm no fan of them, either.

Cancel It!. Don´t do business with MBNA again.

I had a 20,000 card with them and they closed it suddenly saying that I have too much credit. All my reports were spotless with perfect history and down utilization. By the way I never asked for an increase, they raised it from 5.5k every two or three months.

About that this is you oldest account, it doesn´t matter, I closed my oldest Crap One and my scores did not changed too much. As matter of fact they increased some points!.
