I've noticed that this account is reported as "MBNA Checkmate" on my Equifax report. Does MBNA report all Quantum accounts like this ? Does anyone know why they call it this ? It sounds like they like to play chess a lot.
I have 11.99% 4.70% BT for a couple of months I PAID IT OFF BECAUSE THEY REFUSED... LONGER BT LOWER BT INCREASE IN CREDIT LIMIT (after 6 years of none) LOWER "GO-TO" RATE CHECK MATE ON THEM...IT'S COLLECTING SOCK LINT...
I'll put this one in the sock drawer as well once I get my Elite Rewards Plat. Plus card. Better rewards with fewer points. The only difference I see between Quantum and a Plat. Plus rewards card is the concierge service, so I guess I'll keep the Quantum for that. Checkmate!!!
steve, MBNA reported both my Quantum Rewards Card and Apple Instant Loan as checkmate. MBNA lowered my Quantum Rewards Card to 10.99% APR beginning May statement. Ron.
I'M AT THE POINT THAT 9.99% IS THE HIGHEST I PAY... 3 @ 9.99% are going to be next to "EMPTY"... I have one at 9.90%... Then 5.99%...
I am the same way george. If a credit offer comes in the mail over 9.9%, it gets shredded instantly. The only exception is some retail cards when they have 0% or Walmart so I have a card to use at Sam's Club. Citibank P+1.65%v (6.4%) Going to go for P+0.9% one day. MBNA Quantum 9.99%f Amex Blue 9.99%f Target 9.99%f Wells Fargo 12.65%v Will not use, but is oldest CC I have so I won't close it. I use it for a $20 purchase every 6 months. I have considered some cards like the HHonors Signature Visa but I knew I wouldn't use it because of it's 12.xx%v rate. The only way I will apply for a card now is if it is prime or close to prime with no annual fee or less than 9.99% fixed. So, right now, the only card I would consider is the Capital One No Hassle @ 8.9%f. Then I would close my Target Visa and replace it with it.
How did you get the 9.99% fixed rate from MBNA ? Was it lowered from 12.99% or did you respond to a special offer ? The only card I have at this rate is Amex Blue. My Bofa card is at 9.9% fixed. If MBNA lowers my rate to 9.99% fixed then I can get rid of the Bofa card.
I didn't mean to flaut, I was just making a point. Now that I see the list, I feel really bad. I remember your comments about the your frustration with the cards above. Sorry. Or I could say....Ha Ha, mine are better than yours!!! But, I will stick with the apology for "flaunting" my rates and wish you luck getting yours reduced.
Steve, I responded to an invitation. Trying to find answers for those of you here, I asked if there was any other way of 9.9% and was told no. If I find out something, I will post it immediately. I'm curious why you want to close you BofA. I don't have one, but everyone here seems very happy with them.
I was thinking about closing the bofa card if MBNA gave me 9.99% fixed because the interest rate from MBNA applies to cash advances as well. The 9.9% fixed rate from Bofa only applies to purchases. I rarely use credit cards for cash advances, but it would be nice to have a low cash advance rate for emergencies. The Cap One No Hassle card has great rates, but I heard it's very hard to get. I don't want to get stuck with a toy card.
Steve, I couldn't agree more about the cash adv. rate being the same as for purchases. And even better yet, the fact that the cash advance limit is the same and the credit line. I never cash advance, but it's nice to know if I needed too, there is plenty for me available.
I can use you for my case...I tell credit card companies I have friends I talk to on the internet on a credit card related site and they have X.XX%...I want the same!!!
