Typically, how long after you are approved for an MBNA card before you receive the card? I was approved last week, and I am wondering when to expect the card?

It is already reporting on my TU report.

    the other,

As sam said, they are interminably slow. It took me three weeks to get the card and five weeks to get the welcome package.

They are also very slow on posting balance transfers and (imo) payments, even when done online.

    Marci,

That's odd because my online payments post pretty quickly. I think usually the day after. balance transfers were a little slow, but I didn't think they were any slower than some of the others. Amex and Discover seem the slowest with bts.

With MBNA, I like that you can see charges that have been approved even when they haven't been posted yet. You can see it almost immediately after you make the charge. I don't think anyone else does this.

I suppose that it's all in perspective. I do agree that it's nice to have the authorizations sorted and identified before they post. I haven't seen any other card issuer do that, either. I did an electronic BT with MBNA that took nearly two weeks. My online payments posted two days after making the payment.

    The best online postings:

    AmEx - next day
    Citi - next day
    Cap One - next day

    The worst:

Citi USA - two days, once it decides it's ready to allow you to pay...

I have found the Western Union quick collect is the best way to pay, yes it is expensive, but it saves you from all those crazy fees. Money Gram is also good. This way, the cc company cannot deny the received the transaction cause a third party is involved. Just my .02 cents.
