Received my first credit report from Equifax today. Can someone explain to me the last column whis is titled "Date Reported"? I have several tradelines that show in the column " Date of Last Activity" as 5-6 years ago, no balances, R1, but a date of last activity as just last month. What does this mean? Do creditors still report to Equifax long after an account has been closed? ALSO, in the section on the last page titled "Companies that have requested your credit file" there are about 64 (no detail) going back to 12/00 and it seems that the timing is about every other week. What gives? Are these hard inquires - how can you tell?

Positive information may stay on your credit report for as long as 10 years and will be continually updated eventhough, there is no activity.

    I hope this helps.

At the end of the Equifax report is a list of buisnesses that requested a copy of your credit report over the past 24 months and the date of each request. This is the inquiries section of the report.

A letter code will precede some requestor's names. Possible codes include PRM, AM and AR. PRM stands for promotional and means that a creditor or insurer obtained your name and address from Equifax so that they could offer you credit or insurance. AM or AR appears when one of your creditors makes a periodic review of your Equifax report. These are soft inquiries. They are not sent to creditors or insurers for reasons of credit reporting. They are listed on your copy of Equifax for your informational purposes only.

My Equifax report that came in the mail this week had those weird pages with tons of blank inquiries with just dates and no description. When I look at my report online I don't see all of that. I just dismissed it as a fluke and forgot about it.
