Well, not me but my mother in law. She, to be exact her young doughter received medical treatment ( ER ) for the amount of 166.00. They had an insurance at that time and gave the info to the hospital at the time of emergency. Well, they put some bull info in there (didn't copy the insurance informations right) and then charged her for it instead of the INSURANCE. My wife called couple of times to straight that up and she did it. Well, we thought wrong. Last week I pulled my monther's credit report and there it is ... UNPAID collection for 166.00. What should I do to help them ? Do you think I have a chance to get some $$ for their mistake like I saw some guys were getting in here? I think I can get that removed but ... Anyone ? Thanks
I had the exact same scenario with a Doctor that screwed up on the insurance claim. He billed the wrong Insurance carrier and by the time he corrected his mistake, the correct insurance carrier denied his claim. This was an HMO where we had to use this Doctor and he had a contract with the HMO stating he could not bill us for it. He ignored his own contract and sent it to collections when we refused to pay for his error. The collection company was medclr. It was actually simple to fix. I sent a validation letter CRRR to Medclr. When they did not respond within the 30 days, I filed a complaint with the Banking Dept in my State. Turned out they were not licensed in my State and were told by the Banking Dept to remove from the credit report or face sanctions. They removed it within a week. I would do the validation letter and gather your evidence of insurance if you still have it. Once they don't respond or if they do just file a complaint with your Attorney General or whoever handles collection agencies in your State. Show them your documentation and let them deal with the scumbags.
