Wondering where I begin. Do I contact the collection agency that now has the account or the original doctor/hospital that I owe? Can I offer to settle for deletion and if so how is the best way to go about this? Can they actually completely delete this from my credit report so it does not show, or will they just report is as charge off paid? We are buying a house and the mortgage broker said these need to be paid off, but I figured I would try to get them removed while I'm at it. I won't tell the people I'm paying though why I'm paying. Thanks for helping!!
Whoa! That came out wrong. I never intended to NOT pay them, just rather not tell them why I'm asking for deletion. I don't feel bad negotiating a medical collection as I fully believe insurance should have paid this anyway. To me a credit card would be different. If I charged it, I owe it. Ok, so I guess the same is true in medical services being rendered, there is always an argument, but these are MY opinions and don't want flamed because I am asking to settle for less than I owe on my medical collections. There, maybe I'm covered!
