In 7/97 I went to the ER for treatment which was covered by Insurance at the time.
when I pulled my reports recently I noticed on my transunion and EQ reports a collection from Medclr.
So, I disputed it with the CRAs, and as of last week, it has been verified by Eq and in addition, a new tradeline was placed by Medclr for the same account, except that they changed it from inphynet acc XXX to
ER Phys Acc XXX (same numbers). Knowing I didn't want to deal with Medclr/NCO regarding this, I called the original creditor and was told that my insurance company never paid them the complete amount owed and that the account had been sold to the CA..so there was nothing that they could do to assist me.
I then called the number listed for Medclr...which is of course, the number for NCO..and spoke with a gentleman who couldn't find the original account (which was verified) but that if I send him a copy of my report, he will see about getting it deleted. (Yeah, I believe that) And how do I want to pay for that debt....which of course, he claimed couldn't be paid for through the mail.... He also stated that NCO owns medclr. I let him know that I would discuss that with him after I recieved validation. He said..He would "verify" it if I sent the request in writing.
this is for 130$, what a waste of my time..if only someone could have been bothered to notify me at some point that it hadn't been paid....
    anyway...my questions....
    1. this is listed on my report as medclr being the coolector, yet NCO claims it owns medclr...shouldn't it be listed as NCO...my understanding was that they had to report under their own name.
    2. Do I validate with them or verify...they claim to own medclr which owns the debt. But my understanding is that if the debt is purchased after it is delinquent, then they are required to follow the FDCPA.
What I really want to do is just pay them and have them make my reports pretty, but I am sure they will not be that nice.
    3. I called EQ to point out that they inserted a duplicate account....and instead of saying..oh yeah...look at that....they put it in dispute again.
    4. I have not received anything from NCO/medclr as far as a minimiranda notification.
Where should I go from here? Do I wait until the equifax dispute is over with before I begin so I can check to see if NCO places it in dispute?Do I validate or dispute?Do I approach the duplicate tradelines as seperate entities?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
