    hi,
I missed one medical bill 9 months back, and recently got a letter from a collection agency. in the letter, they ask for the medical balance of $35 plus 6 buck interest plus 50 buck collection fee.
so I just paid off the balance of 35 dollar directly to the doctor a couple days back. now should I pay the collection agency 50 dollars?

    thanks,

Nope. You never had a contract with the CA, only the Dr. Office. Once you paid them the debt that was owed, it's done. If it's on your credit report, dispute it.

Was the medical debt already sold to the CA, or was the CA assigned to collect the debt on the Dr.'s behalf? Since the Doc accepted your payment and didn't send you back to the CA, I'll assume the debt was simply assigned. But you should definitely verify what the situation truly is.

It would have been better if you made sure the Dr.'s office pulled your account back from collections before paying, but that's water under the bridge now. You'll probably have to work directly with the office to get the collection agency off your back.
